if food is something you enjoy to the point where it's a hobby, i can completely understand wanting to avoid chains. i just don't feel the same way, so i'm inclined to just eat whatever somebody shoves in front of my face no matter how much grease lathers it.

It's also worth noting that restaurants that use the more "upscale" rating systems (e.g. the Michelin system) are judged on more than just food alone. Service is a big one. You not only get top-quality food created from awesome ingredients and prepared with cutting-edge techniques, but everything runs like clockwork, the ambience is awesome, etc.

As the saying goes, though, do you want your money going into the food or the tablecloth? I enjoy going out to an upscale restaurant if I want a nice experience -- but if I want to focus strictly on good food, I don't need to spend all that much money at all.

I'm not talking down to anyone, but I realize that I shouldn't have even gotten into this discussion. Especially when what seems to be my main opposer says things like this lol.

denny's and panera are two restaurants off the top of my head that no matter where i go, they consistently make really good food.

You know I was going to make a remark about the blood sandwiches, but then I remembered that was a different bread place and not panera. So I'll second that I've not had problems with those particular franchises, but with the caveat that there are plenty of horrible chain restaurants and it's very possible to have a bad experience somewhere.

There are places I just won't go because I know either a) the food is horrible or b) they're cheats or c) bad attitude.

chili's sucks korny is right you can go to much better individually owned restaurants and pay the same price you would at chili's for better food. chili's is just bland "American southwest" food to me. i make better food than they do.

also as far as burrito bars go u can catch me at Qdoba pce
