They work fine for me.

Obviously there are much better headphones out there, but for their price, the ath-m50s are really not that bad.

EDIT: They have a similar issue to KRK Studio Monitors, they are a bit thumpy in the low end because for some reason, like KRK's, they are (or at least were) frequently purchased by hip hop producers.

The only headphones I compared them to in the store were the KRKs, which were REALLY bad.

O.o that narrows this conversation down a LOT, I purchased my Audio Technica's for 180 and those are the ones you didn't like.

The reason I suggest that is because the majority of retirement homes (if you can find a riverpointe then all the better) have restaurants on the ground floor and most people don't realize that there are public jobs at retirement homes so they don't have a giant stack of apps and unless its "assisted living" it won't be 18+

Serve food for minimum, its what I did for a long while.
