A lot of states could do this. There would still be a marked decrease in quality of life for many.

Texas does well in some areas and absurdly shitty in others (as is the case with other states). It also happens to be quite rich in resources (e.g. oil).

Just depends on what you look at.

The fact someone payed that much to bail him out for just short period before trial.

I hope the guy can collect himself before the trial. I don't know psychology, but I would think he would be mentally unsound with all the things he probably went through in prison.

False. If you can't pay bail they keep you there until the trial to make sure you don't flee the area.
