The Xbox One won't even start without the Kinect attached. You have to pay extra fees if you buy used games because it registers discs to the console it's first installed upon and renders them otherwise unusable.

I might actually pick up a PS4 instead of an Xbox if those two items are true.

I knew Microsoft would fuck up with this. These past years they have done nothing but focus their attention to make their system be a multi-media console instead of what a console should be, which is just to play god damn games.

It doesn't help that there's still the rumors going around that you must connect to the Internet on Xbox One every 24 hours or else it won't function.

Microsoft... I have no idea what you're doing, but you sure as hell are not targeting the gaming audience with your features.

Exactly. I agree with this. Microsoft, you're gaming stuff is the reason why I'm sticking with Nintendo products, such as the Wii U.

I don't mind the features, per say. I just don't like how that's the only thing they seem to be targeting these days.

I'm sure there's still going to be quality games being developed for the system specifically. But from the sounds of it, they're going to impede their customers by lots of security checks.

You know, as a whole, I like Microsoft, I truly do. Their machines look good, work well, and feel great in general. However, I just despise their mentality. It's like they forgot Xbox is their GAME division.

I don't get what the big deal with this is. From what I've heard, the kinect is going to come bundled with the Xbox. If anything, this makes it easier for video game developers. They don't have to worry about whether or not people are going to have the kinect because it's a guarantee that they are going to have it. If anything it'll lead to better quality games that actually make good use of the kinect in possible conjunction with the controller. With the 360, it would be slightly discouraging and risky to make a game for the kinect since the your audience would only be a fraction of those that have an Xbox console. With the Xbox One, that risk wouldn't exist and more developers would be more enticed to make good use of the kinect. Anyways, my opinion isn't worth much since I haven't owned a gaming console since the original Xbox so I probably don't know what I'm talking about :P

There's a lot of other good points in this thread though that makes is seem like the Xbox One isn't worth buying. The having to be connected online to play games seems kinda ridiculous if that's true. The thing about discs being registered to the first console it's installed on is just plain retarded. It's like, if you wanted to go your friend's house to play some games or something and you wanted to play a game with him that only you had, you'd have to bring over your game and the entire freaking console. dumb.

The always-on connection for games is the choice of the game makers, but you know they'll probably want to go ahead and enforce it. Also, don't forget the inability to play 360/XBLA titles on it...

Everything about this reveal sucks if you're an Xbox gamer. Back to square one, with heavy restrictions on connections and the games themselves. Thanks, Microsoft, for using your money to shit on your customer base. Great happiness abounds.
