I actually want to hear from the elite population about this whole D7 argument and whatnot. AJ tells me it's not a fair thing to the top tier players and explains his reasoning why, but I see it like the top tier players are going to be battling it out in the final rounds anyway. So why does it make a difference between doing it in a D7 division vs having a huge skill difference in D6 and knowing you guys are going to be battling one another in the end anyway?

Obvious reasons. It would be great to actually get a shot at getting top 8. Mid to low D6ers are stuck in no man's land and pretty much can't get out without getting new genes or somehow convincing people they lost enough skill to get bumped to D5.


Edit: As far as a cutoff, no one worse than Zyph makes D7. that should leave at least 8 people I think.

I already know the non elite POV on this. I'm looking for the POV of people that would actually be D7 on this.

Edit: Using the term elite and non for lack of a better way of putting it. I mean obviously all the people that land in the upper division are quite skilled in the game.

Yeah sorry not that I'm belittling anyone's skill haha. Just want to understand why those who would end up as D7 are opposed to it since even in D6 they'd be battling it out in the end anyway type deal. AJ's told me his POV and I'm just curious to hear from people like Rob, AlexD, Dossar, Zyph, so on.

bballa isn't considered elite? What he said makes total sense and he's an amazing player. You might as well say nobody's elite unless they SDG DP, lol.

It's hard to have a fun/competitive aspect when you have a division ranging from low FGO AAAs to 13 AAAs. That is just way too big a gap. It makes sense that you'd have a fun aspect with competition when you have low-mid D6 together.

2nd place in the 5th official's highest division was 5-0-0-2 on Rage Template. 2nd place in the 6th official's highest division was 1 good on Rave7. Please don't say that there is a "fun aspect" when you're facing these kinds of players and you're at low-mid D6.

Edit: I'd like to mention the thing about potential. If someone's in low D6, they have potential to skillboost (see: Elite Ninja). However, putting that player in the same division as players who are AAAing files like Jamais Vu is seriously just out there. If you ask me, that's a "come on, really?" situation.

Again read what I said, I'm not belittling his skill I said for lack of a better way to put it. I'm not against separating these people but it seems that upper tier players are and I'm just trying to get the feel for exactly why or if they're really all that against it.

Dossar: your point is terribly assumptive. There is a level of fun being at the bottom of a division and pushing your way up. I experienced it in the 4th official being in Division 5, and skillboosting ALL the way to 5th place (receiving 4th prize because of Shash). I didn't belong in D5 at the start of the tournament, but goddamn I made the best of it!

For those of you guys that haven't heard my side of things (I've said it in past tournaments as well), I'll post it here too. Kayla has heard it from myself, but here's my reasoning for those of you outside of the four walls that Kayla and I reside in:

- a.) it potentially kills off any shot of deserving mid-high D6 players of getting a prize they have worked longer for (for the sake of this example, we'll assume more effort/practice assumes a better skill level, because in most cases, it does). There will be some mid-high D6 players that haven't had chance to push themselves into a competitive top "x" (x = 8/5/3/etc) position but have worked really hard to get where they belong.

- b.) Segregating the top division into two is just as arbitrary as splitting every vast skill spread division (for example, D1 where you have players barely able to pass 5s, versus those who can AAA them). This will be a potential problem with the very hungry D6 players that were low D6 becoming mid-D6 out of D7 getting very competitive, as they will inevitably try and drive those that push hard out of D6 and into an area where they absolutely will get murdered, which will eventually cause the complaint of having a D8, D9, etc. If a D7 can be ensured to contain only those who would be proverbially considered "titans", then a D7 might work. Truthfully, as much as I hate the idea of a 7th division, I would love a gauntlet throwdown with some of my buddies.

- c.) prize distributions: prize distribution gets affected slightly because D7 will by nature, be a very small division. If a person gets jumped from D6 to D7 by majority (or by new, yet to be defined standards), they will pretty much be ineligible for receiving a prize.

Essentially, D7 needs to be a division where everyone stands a decent shot. By everyone standing a decent shot, I mean everyone has stats that would completely and utterly put them out of contention in D6 because they would easily win if they were on their own in a situation of "regular" D6 players.

I agree with everything said here. Right now, it's basically "I hope I'm put in D5" if you're on the border.

In the nicest way possible: Asking their opinion on the matter is as bad as asking the non "elite." They're both biased as each other. The only clear headed person with this is gonna be the person who honestly doesn't care.

As a side note, a D7 would be nice to see. I don't care about the screwed over D6 players because that's just sadly how it works. I want to see the best players vs the best players. Not the lower best people get wrecked by the best people.

But this is unavoidable within all divisions everyone needs to realize. I want to see it cause I'm a competitive nut case who loves watching the best players play the best. It's exciting.

The players that would be the prospective D7 would not be biased, especially those that receive (or have the potential to receive) top 8 in D6 for every tournament (like myself, AlexDest, Rob, Eze, Dossar, Op, etc). We technically are the best to ask because we need to be the ones to help define a standard for being put in a division of this magnitude.

D7 will be a bloodbath -every- tournament, with every person being so skilled that each has the opportunity to do particularly well against their peers due to differing skillsets.
