Edit: Aj on downscroll would be awesome as it opens D6 slightly for past participants who haven't been able to shine under the shadows of the greatest. (Not to say there's anything wrong with Aj/Doss/Luis/OWA ect playing, just we all know that at the end of the day players like them are extremely favored to make it and then that takes away spots in the top 8 from those who can't accomplish it before they hit the D6 territory ect. Gonna cut myself short 'cause it's really lengthy.)

AJ doesn't intend on playing the tournament this time. He won first place last time and like Dossar mentioned how the pressure really isn't worth it. But his speculation was if Dossar ended up joining he would lol.

I'm going to be against Justin and say no.

Just because it's an official, y'know? I'm also cool with playing different styles in a lower division to match the playstyle that doesn't represent what you can do, but for something like an official, I think it's safer to not allow it.

It's so people don't go "Oh, he's sandbagging a tournament and cheating and not using the playstyle he promised" and all that good stuff.

But what about the custom ones that happened?

I think doing the different playstyle thing in those won't cause those commotions.

I just don't like when (and you didn't say it explicitly, but I am sure it crossed your mind) we generalize and say "oh, if we let him do it then we have to let EVERYONE do it". No, we don't. That's the glory of being rational beings, not computers.

I do understand the flip side of the argument, however. Whatever. I am sure Justin isn't going to lose sleep over it, haha.

That's all fun and stuff. I like the pressure from tourneys. They force me to whore through my personal frustrations and such.

As someone who plays uh a lot of different ways I'd love to be able to use them though in the future.

but then again I realllllly want to see if I get D4. Because I'd like a last shot at actually winning ever lol.

Anyway what it comes down to with the different play styles and playing in different divisions is if I let one person do it then I have to let everyone do it. So if I say yes to Justin someone else can come in "oh I'll play one handed D2 and vid every round" then another person "I'm going to play index" etc, etc, etc. I don't have the extra time to watch a million videos from people or check every single replay or whatever the case may be. The point is to play your best, not play on something different to bump yourself down.

How do you figure if we let him we don't have to let others? Where's the fairness in that? AJ is a trustworthy person I bet you anything no one wants him downscrolling in D5 with them.

On a serious note, I kinda cringe at the thought of having other people playing in lower divisions with a different play style since it is the official and all. It's almost like accounting for a skill drop, you never know if/when those players could match up to their old/usual playing ability.
