Honest question, does a tempo increase count as a 'remixing of the song'?

That is an interesting question. Technically you really wouldn't be "remixing the song" in a sense, just speeding it up slightly, which wouldn't be adding any new elements or changing around the songs structure. My vote is for allowing, AS LONG as you increase the tempo of the entire song, and don't use this as a method to severely speed up / slow down certain sections to make the song feel overall different from the original.

Adding as an exception to the first post.

I got a similar question, are we allowed to use vocal effects? I'm not talking like on an extreme level but rather possibly adding in echos or something along the lines of that that won't be an overkill to the song?

It feels a little slow to me and I was wondering if I could just speed it up to better fit with what I was thinking of trying to do.

If not, okay, just figured I'd ask.

I actually slowed down the original before I exported it because I figured it would make it easier to rap over.

I can send you a faster version if you want it, it' ll probably be cleaner than stretching the .wav.

Old Santa was having a groovy day
With the elves and reindeers, he was O-K
Party in the North Pole twenty-four hours a day
To mix vodka with wine and then crash on the hay

In his hometown, the dude is pretty famous,
Partially for his factory, it's obvious,
But when he's drunk, Santa is a real mess
He can Triple-A Rave7... while playing chess!

Yeah, believe me. The dude's got skill.
In Sweden, he's the number one target to kill,
Not only because he is way too hardcore,
But because he also beat saiain and isaac's high scores!

One day he woke up after he had a blast
And remembered that his fun was never meant to last
Soon he would craft gifts for kids all over the planet
He came up with a plan, I don't think you can guess it?

He flew over to Pakistan, during the night
Took some random plastic items to give them new life,
Built himself a mega-computer with elf magic
And then burned stepmania on every single disc!

He wrapped them up with care, doing his own affair,
But suddenly, a weird scent replaced the air,
In the sky, people looked down at him with malice,
And shouted: "YOU'RE UNDER ARREST BY STEPMANIA POLICE"

Wow, stepmania police. Haven't heard about them in a long whille. I mean, sure they have their helicopter, their fancy car, but I don't think they stand a chance. No, I, Santa has his swag. So, you know, when they told him to raise his hands, get in the car, you know what he said? I'll tell you what he said, he said:

"Sons, what's this travesty, might I ask?
I never used double setup or judge 1 in my life!
I'm only spreading the word, before the game goes dead
You guys are really clueless, are your brains made outta lead?"

"Hold it!, " said captain officer Kommisar
Don't say a word or I'll crash your face in the wall.
Drop those copies of Stepmania or I'll lose my cool,
And share FFR instead, you tragic, immense fool"

Santa said "whoa". Couldn't find a reply.
He dropped the discs and blue birds started to fly (!?).
He said "fine, I'll share this game, but, god forbid,
Don't you dare take it down like tass and Synthlight did."

And here, my friends, is the end of our story
Of how our community came to be.
LIke Santa be cool, don't be a tool,
And a very merry christmas from me to you!

You aren't allowed to remix the song, but you can do pretty much anything you'd like to your voice. Probably going to be a no for vocoding and auto-tuning, but aside from that go nuts.

I really enjoy the story aspect if this, it was quite hilarious I have to say! If you could though, please post the lyrics along with this when you have the chance (although it was pretty audible, they are great for reference when judging). You've got plenty of time to post them, just be sure to before the submission date ends. Once you submit the lyrics I'll add it to the submissions section.

Well two considering you haven't even submitted yours yet.

I wouldn't worry though, people tend to submit for these things closer to the deadline, so there should be some competition soon enough. I would be pretty disappointed if there wasn't even 4 or 5 submissions, especially considering you get 20k just for submitting something.
