Being skinny in my opinion doesn't work for me.
Also, being extremely bulky is just too much.
I prefer to keep my body type a little built but mostly cut.
This way I am capable of doing most of anything I want or need to do.
I am 5'9" at 190lbs and I have no limitations on flexibility. I train my body to be strong and flexible at the same time thus I create strength with no extra limitations.

But not for losing weight just for smaller muscle builders and endurance. I do this every couple days to keep myself in shape. 2 miles is no marathon and you can keep most of it at a steady sprint.
2 miles in 10 mins? Lol you may want to recalculate your distance, friend.

Unless you're on scholarship or getting paid to run, of course

I will completely disagree with you that it's a sprint (or even close) though. If you're actually running anywhere even remotely that fast, you would be logging more than 2 miles every few days just to stay in shape.

        Re: The Fitness Thread

What if I told you the "runner" can run for 2 hours at a pace faster than your sprints during HIIT?

Just a thought... yeah long distance running may not be the best way to look good, but it is more than just jogging around. We do intervals too, and pretty damn hard ones at that.

        Edit:

I actually do agree with you thought about HIIT being more effective than just distance running, at least for quick results. I am just saying that combining the two will get you WAY fitter (cardio wise) than just HIIT.

I am military and I'm forced to run 2 miles in under 15:30 to pass but with all the training I have remained at 9:40 to 10:15.
I know people that beat my time easily so it's not improbable. I have a body fat mass of 9.85%

Bball can probably run 2 miles in the low 9min range so there is an example

On a track or on a self measured course?

Of course it is possible... but I agree with Rebel runner that unless you are doing much more consistent endurance training, you aren't running 2 miles in 10 minutes.

Only reason I'd care about endurance, honestly, is DDR/ITG. I tired out super-fast even on 10-footers (heart racing, winded, etc), which totally sucks.

However, I rarely play DDR/ITG anyway so simply looking good and being healthy is sufficient. XD

I run on a track most of the time at MSU. I didn't say I didn't do other training for running I was just explaining my distance running I do.

Gotcha. You should do some road racing later on in life. I bet you could be a pretty consistent 15:40-16:00 5k guy, which more often than not can net you some decent cash on the weekends if you find the right races!

I used to run distance. I'm not saying it's not hard or that it doesn't have benefits. I *personally* hate it because it doesn't work for my aesthetic goals, and for people that just want to lose fat, it's also a waste of time.

If it works for you, that's all that matters.

I've never had much arm strength or ab strength, or much flexibility, but my legs are like tree trunks. I'm 5' 10'' and 168 lbs, down from 190 this winter. My goal is to be able to run a 5k in under 20 minutes (I know bballa here can do it in like 15 lol) but right now I need to get myself running more than once a week to reach that goal.

Hmm, still 226 pounds. Hopefully this is just a fluctuation and things will drop into 225 territory soon. XD

He probably wouldn't need to yet. I mean, if you've been stalling for awhile, it's pretty standard to refeed and then cut your portions a bit, because it works 100% of the time until you get down to below 10%. He should be able to lose a lot more before stalling though.

Probably just a fluctuation. My weight has been fluctuating a bit. Since August 5th though I'm up 1.5 lb and maintaining my body fat %, so pretty damn happy with the results. I take my weight every 5 days and thus far it has been going up on one weigh in and down the next, up...then down etc.

Also, dat water weight. I hate that shit. Makes you feel fat.
