Re: itt we do new reviews of old packs

    okay

so it turns out SMGpack2 really isnt that bad

(Ossa) Almsty's OP - overlong and pretty uninteresting but does what it can. would have been much better with a cut.
(Kn33) Ave de Rapina - I really like some of the accents here, but ruined by overly heavy and long freeze usage. also 12th stops **** up the timing on the hands and wreck my score D:
(HST) Blythe - simple but very effective. 24th patterns seem random?
(Ossa) Bossman - this file is freaking fun
(Patashu) Bumpy Genital - nobody does dnb like Patashu does. straightforward and just hard enough to be replayable
(Necros) Butekkai - Necros always has a very pragmatic way of stepping that looks simple but catches the depth of his songs well. same goes here. copy+paste+additional layering looks very sloppy and some of the long freezes interrupt the flow, but overall one of the better files in the pack.
(Tsuka) Cave Story - awesome. freezedumping works well with chiptunes, gotta say
(GLoVE) Confined - interesting use of left-hand bias here but not so much fun to play. feels weird at parts because the file's so sparse but the patterns are so hard
    (Kil) Creamy - cute
    (Yesssss) Cruisin' - classic file
(Ossa) Destination - quit out at the part with the horrific jumps layered into long jacks. that said, the freeze followed by a note gimmick was effectively used in some parts, but it still mostly felt like overkill.
(Ossa) El Telefono - this is my favorite file from Ossa. easy, chill, and freeze parts flow nicely.
(Kn33) Fear - this is my favorite file from Kn33. beautiful file

    will do more later

These old packs aren't old enough. The only ones I ever played were KBMP and F5. :3

I used to play the hell out of Destination oni in an attempt to AA. don't think I ever got it.

Re: itt we do new reviews of old packs

i downloaded Xoon 3 again recently, so here's a review of it

250BPM - lul roar u sneaky devil, all the 32nds/64ths was gay so uh 4/10
Beautiful Angel - woah where did trance_core go? this file was really awesome, sure the technical stuff was iffy but this was really fun to tap out 8/10
BLN - really cool file, old schooled. really cool but not really anything outstanding about it 6/10
candy rape - ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh the patterns were so bland i passed out on my keyboard 2/10
cirno's perfect math class - this was neat too but the 8th jumps were kinda not necessary 6/10
CONTRACT - raar raar this files so hard but replayable and perfect for scoring 7/10
d-code - i can tell this is old from you moches xd however it still is pretty fun and the song itself didnt have much you could do with it, 6/10
danse macabre - hate to do this but this was the best file in the pack to me 9/10
dazzling destiny - i forgot puppet made files for this. this was really cool overall, nothing wrong or bad about it. some parts were ~too technical~ but it was cool 8/10
deathkenkai - Vospi goodness. it was overall solid, and the type of patterns i'd expect from him. not really my cup of tea though 5/10
          Epidermis - HARD WTF/10
evergreen - hey i remember playing this, its still cool now and was cool then, 8/10
          Feast for eternity - no
          ffff - ffff no
Garyo - this was cool too 6/10
hand throw - i prefer alexdest's version now :'( but its not awful but not that great, 5/10
Heart of Witch - THIS FILE IS REALLY OLD 1/10

and thats all i played of it :'(

Re: itt we do new reviews of old packs

              more reviews for SMGpack2

(iamme) Final Step - eh, perfectly fine. some patterns are seriously a kick in the balls though (we call it "iamme syndrome" for a reason...)
(ducky) Fire Wire - pretty simple, pretty good. maybe a bit too much following the 16ths (empty space can be very effective when used well), but I always knew where the file was headed and it was satisfying to play.
(Rebirth) Fly Away - this is actually one of the better freezedump files in the pack. too bad everybody dumped on it when it came out
(Kn33) Gamelan de Couple - I was not expecting this file from Kn33grow, lol. it's decent; song isnt that interesting in the first place but some of the polyrhythms are fun
(Patashu) Ghosts - solid file. maybe a wee bit dense for the relatively light tone of the song (at least compared to Bumpy Genital hehu)
(macgravel) Glitchcraft - tbh I was never a fan of these memorization-reliant files that macgravel excelled at (save Mellann that file ruled)
(Tsuka+mcg) Goblinz - this file, however, owns
(GLoVE) - Grey Pianos Flying - parts of this own, but others are too simplistically layered to capture the rising/falling tension of the song. chill file, though
(HST) Hanafubuki - i don't get how this file is layered--easier chart with less hands might have helped. still enjoyed this because it was easy and flowed well
(Ossa) He's A Pirate - all of this is boss except for the freezejack thingy at the end which wrecks my score every time :<
(Patashu) Holy Orders - not in the mood for a long song, skipping this
(Yesssss) In The Light - same here. iirc this is nice, though. too many long freezes, maybe, but parts of this were really great
(Kil) Incarnation of Devil - gr9 file
(iamme) Kakumei - this is actually the best iamme file but nobody will tell you that

Re: itt we do new reviews of old packs

bump because i'd like to see more reviews from others

                hateful review of ffrcp2:

chiptune superstar (kommistar) - pretty neat file except for the mines right after some of those hands what was that 7/10

mind mapping (ferrari) - couldnt have picked a more cheesy song could you, cool file up until the end at like 600ish combo which you dumped jumpstream in there which i just gave up 5/10

flowing 5.8.8. (moches) - boring white noise song 3/10

mnemoniq (patashu) - a neat jazzy song with the most generic banner ever really what are these graphics in this pack, cool swing file pat-a-shoe 7/10

a bunch of japanese letters or some ching chong shit (scylaax) - a very boring and bland chart for which i had to zone out and re-evaluate why im still continuing to play this chart (edit chart is rly gay) 3/10

helix nebula (kommisar) - maybe if you told people to play this on 2.0 rate it would actually be interesting 3/10

the game of love (dimentio) - i cant even play this because it just sounds like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KoBQWLE11NA running through my head sorry no 1/10

classical guitar solo (who_cares973) - you submitted this so you can get some credibility right

hiai no jubaku (kil) - i think the secret to stepping to the music is you take a heavenly shit while placing notes to make it feel like the slow and relieving release of a turd from your bum ?/10

cosmic dust (patashu) - beep boop beep boop this song is boring 3/10

dusk's holy mask (kil alias) - yea my conjecture still stands *toilet flush*

concertino in blue (puppet) - you had an opportunity to make this dense as fuck but ignored it now this file is dead to me 5/10

quantum teleportation (moches) - was wondering when you were going to stop copy and pasting but i guess we just cant have nice things can we 2/10

fake (puppet) - yeah nice one handed trills and unnecessary 32nd jack in there real tight bro 5/10

the legend of zelda theme (puppet & kommisar) - was wondering why my score wasn't showing, nice job double checking the file guys also too many holds 4/10

sparkle downer (npv) - sounds like cowbells in space also bad patterns 3/10

pandora (spitfire) - at least you sampled the cockblock part of the song because i would have been angry that i lost my quad by the worst patterns known to man 2/10

run the place red (dimentio) - yeah green notes thats real necessary for this song, but at least its the least boring file in this damned pack so far, cool restep 7/10

holy orders (shashikiro) - yeah real original song choice dont we have enough files for this song already

a quick death (who_cares973) - sounds sick and pretty much butchers everything else in the pack 8/10

stepmania last boss (puppet & kommisar) - way to end the pack with the worst file in existence 0/10

                              another review

a gunshot to the head of trepidation (glove) - a very simplistic chart to a metal song and stepped well enough to be slightly memorable 8/10

aztec templing (cetaka) - dumb chart but memorable 7/10

azul (necros) - the amount of difficulties in this cater to a good amount of players of different skill sets (all 3 are charted well), which ultimately makes for a great simfile 8/10

bargain (patashu) - decent chart for a song that's nothing but a heavy bass kick to every 4th note 6/10

biosfear (yesssss vs glove) - nicely charted but wow boring 5/10

blurk's op 2 (blurk) - i really wonder what drove kil to produce such a song like this, he must really hate you blurk 4/10

break the sword of justice (dondon151) - very repetitive and boring, beginner is just an overlayered dump 5/10

caring dance (velious) - pop'n music yeah real nice, got boring pretty fast 4/10

carpet muncher (cetaka) - i dont know why but by how this sampled music sounds it sounds like a bunch of cats meowing in autotune. like i imagine that the aristocats got together 5 years later after the movie and decided one day that they should produce jazzy catcore and voila this song. anyway cool file 7/10

castaway (stargroup) - nice chart but i'm wondering why all you stepped back in the day were piano demos 6/10

chaoz japan (z3ratul) - i never understood what was going on in this chart also bad song choice 3/10

cold heart (kneegrow) - decent chart 6/10

colored (jimerax) - yamajet sure is racist 7/10

cooking by the book (z3ratul) - quite a different man you are 2/10

crow's ghost (hayden) - vent is dead 8/10

crystal ann (z3ratul) - aw how cute it's like you're trying to fit in now 2/10

cynic (reach) - Congrats You're The Millionth Restep And Have Won 5/10

darkwing duck theme (blurk) - this is probably the point where you said "i give up stepping so i'm goin out with a bang" or something ?/10

dream to nightmare (tsuka) - cool chart 7/10

electro rush x8 (rebirth) - cheezy song with the most annoying patterns 4/10

endless sacrifice (glove) - cool dream theater chart but really there are some other bands out there that are steppable like Linkin Park and Fall Out Boy you should try those out 7/10

exospacial psionic aura (yesssss) - terrible song to play but nice chart 6/10

f (linus) - hey a chart of yours that doesn't actually suck 7/10
