RAN isn't pure mashing, but the middle parts of it are educated mashing. You're not playing anything at any musical speed with any consistent tempo or hierarchy. You're aiming at clusters of arrows the same way you aim at clusters of enemies in Contra, and with the "Oh, have a good because have a good" nature of dense patterns in FFR, it just gets really silly.

I got eliminated on Press Start too. Over all, it was the normal js, not the spikes, that gave me trouble. The "easy" parts of the song are filled with traps and honestly, I don't think it was synced that well.

Not that I would've performed next round anyway. I'm pretty sure I have yet to sub-30 Aletheia. My scores on that song are a smoldering crater of shit.

Yeah, I can't even FC it sans mashing. Like I keep saying, it's the bastard child of TTE and Chaosmaid.
