I have it saved as a psd as well. The main reason I have it as a png was to send it to someone who wanted to see it.

How would I lower the DPI and make sure the color space is CMYK? Keep in mind, I'm using Gimp.

Essentially, tell me exactly what I need to do to fix it. I'm a nub at picture editing.

EDIT: If it's not too much to ask, could you whip something up for me that resembles what I'm trying to make?

You can get away with printing a JPG/PNG for this kind of job for the most part, so you can ignore what I said about printing file formats. Same goes for the DPI I suppose.

Most importantly is making sure the colour space is CMYK and not RGB. In Photoshop you can change it under Image>Mode>CMYK. In GIMP when creating a new image/canvas you can choose the colour space as shown here:


I'm not familiar with GIMP unfortunately, so the best I can tell you is to copy your image and paste it into a new canvas that's in CMYK colour space. You could also set the resolution to 300 if you wish, but again you can get away with your current setting.

What resolution should the final outcome be that I send away for printing? Also, my only options are RGB and Grayscale.

EDIT: If I send you a psd, could you fix it like you described? There will be credits if you'd want them.

For most standard printing jobs:
300 DPI for coated paper.
266 DPI for uncoated paper.

In the case with stickers, it would classify as coated paper, meaning your resolution should be 300. You would never use a higher resolution unless you're printing strictly stock photography, in which case you'd have to use 400 DPI (this isn't as common in terms of print jobs though).

I guess send me the PSD and I can do a quick adjustment job if you can't figure it out or no one else can do it for you.

I've included both an EPS and high quality JPG. PNG doesn't support CMYK, again adding to why it's not made for print, lol.

Sweet. So I'm going to crop this so the border doesn't show; what resolution should it be? 300 DPI?

EDIT: Here it is all cropped. This not resized from what I have it as. Would this be good to send?

Also, another nub question, will the CMYK pallet look more like the RGB counterpart once printed?

You should leave the crop marks in the image—they act as guides for proper trimming later.

Printing anything from RGB to CMYK (Screen to Print) is never perfect. The colours will be shifted or slightly different, but there's absolutely nothing you can do about it.
