I'd go a little differently. Overall, that would discourage people in the later rounds and you could have a winner by round 4 or 5.

For the rounds with less people, make the first couple of rounds cumulative ones till an elimination. For insance, if there were 5 people, round 1 + 2 then elim the lowest, 3 + 4 then elim the lowest then go as normal

This is exactly what i was thinking. i've found that the overall score tournaments don't have thte excitement of the elimination ones. you have you to work harder for it

I have a feeling once the tourney starts, all the divisions will change back, I really hope they actually do.
