At the same time, I do consider myself a high contender in the D3 competition. Which admittingly I am happy with. However at the same time I have been trying for a while and never AAA'ed D4's song. Came close, but not AAA'd.

Because the first round is generally an AAA or close to it round, perhaps some people (who won't have sdg's before the end of the round without lack of trying) were placed too high, instead of some people like me being placed too low?

    I dunno, just a thought.

Yeah I was implying that I was placed too high, not that you were placed too low. I -might- be able to squeak out a AAA on this song. My best AAA is a solitary 6, and the round 1 song is a 6 that already has 5/8 submitted AAAs.

So...if we get higher than we did when we submitted the first time, can we post a new image for submission??

Yes, you just keep posting new better scores until the end of the round.

Yes. Just put it in a new post. As a matter of fact this kind of action is quite encouraged. Unless you're in my division.
            Edit..
            You.. You.. YOU NINJA.

And also, the people in D3 probably only have 6's AAAed with a few low 7's. That's what I have at least. But sometimes I can't sightread combo 8's. And comboing 9's is difficult for me. Even low ones. I only have 1 challenging combo'ed.
Because this is an amateur tournament I think scarlet is going to take advantage of the fact we can't AAA everything, and make this a tournament where it isn't AAA or die. Just a thought.

Yep, submit as many times as you want! Just make sure to make a new post instead of editing your old one.

Due to issues with the engine and bad song choice on my part, D2 has a different set up now.

You have 6's with some 7s. I have 5's with one 6. So far it seems like -most- people in that division are AAA'ing it, and I'm pretty much -at- AAA or die. I'm at 3 goods or die, 2 days into the round.

With the new placements set up, you were pretty borderline D2/D3. Highest AAA in D2 is only a 5 with some 6s SDGd. Lowest in D3 has a 5 AAA with 7s SDGd.
But unfortunately, there's ALWAYS borderline players in every division (except D4 it seems like) in every tournament. I feel that if you're borderline, you go up instead of down.
The goal is to better your own skills as a player in FFR, right? Well what better way to push yourself than being placed in a higher division. That's how I got from mid D3 to top of D5 in a matter of months.

I have one 6 AAA, others are 1, 2, or 3s. I did play this song close to 70 times to get the AAA, so I don't think it's all bad placement. I don't know how many times you've tried comparatively (some day I'll be a vet), but perhaps you just need to play it endlessly? I was ready to quit at 5-1-0-0 until I saw people were AAA'ing it.

One 6 AAA and one 7 AAA (which felt more like a mid-high 6 anyways) over here, with a handful of FCs, and no even remotely close 8+ FCs.

But "bragging" aside, that's the thing about competitions in general. It's easy to determine the best of the best, but when it comes to things such as tiers, how are you the best of the middle? There's too many factors to accurately determine people with relatively equivalent skill...=/

Just looking at AAA's isnt the only consideration of skill. There are a couple players in the official tourny who havent AAA'd an 8 yet who are about to eliminate me from the tourny (*cough turbo cough* lol, damn that song is trippin me up).

This tourny was a great idea though, props to Scarlet for putting this together, nice to see less experienced players becoming more active. Maybe they'll throw in for some other tournys too.

such a classic song virus is. sigh...
it was actually one of the 1st songs i ever played on ffr. my friend who got me into it was able to read the notes and i just couldn't understand how he could do it. it was all button mashing for me. I was so happy the day I actually passed that song.
                              how far i've come

But then my lady friend got pissed off I was playing FFR instead of playing her. Then for the rest of the night she played the 'Only want me for my body' card and I didn't get to sleep with blankets that night.
