I happen to really like SAMBISTA as a file. There's some pretty nice flow to it, although those 48th bursts are pretty mean (that's sugarcoat for "bmah, you're a dick!").
IDK for someone who likes technicalmanias as much as you do (not a bad thing btw) I would figure you would also be bothered by the huge inconsistencies in the file.

It doesn't flow well at all for me, in part because the expectations built up in one section of the file completely don't carry over to the next part. Jumps to melody, okay. Oh wait jk not anymore... Oh then just once I pull a jump to the melody again, psyche back to singles on the melody again

No flow at all like that >_<

Also the more I play it the more I'm convinced Halcyon could have been the best file in FFR hands down if it wasn't for some really dumb choices in the end. Climax theory should never take precedence over avoiding-gay-patterns theory.

I do that kind of scrutinizing as a judge. Not as a player. I think that it's good to be able to discern a technically correct file, and a nicely flowing/fun file. SAMBISTA doesn't have that many errors because a lot of those things are intentional omissions anyway.

And there's nothing wrong with climax theory - if it boosts in difficulty appropriately with the song and it's memorable, nothing else matters. The harder it is, the more replayable it is.

        I actually didn't copy paste

I remember when I was deciding on whether to set bootraps on the jumptrill transitions but decided to do minijacks instead for good flow. I did keep a similar scheme for the upjack sections, and by some bizarre chance I must've stepped the other parts really close to what it would look like mirrored. The file itself follows the same layering.

Bmah we need to teach you how to make good transitions. Leading out of some of those rolls and then especially those two minijack jump transitions at the end are just completely awful, totally ruin what's otherwise an amazing file for me.
what, those minijack transitions are fine

the middle though... it took me easily 15 tries to not get a cb on that

When did you step your version? I did this earlier in February.

I stepped it way back in July for the New Song Artists Batch. According to my computer, I last edited it at Wednesday, July 13, 2011, 10:14:41 AM.

lol the middle 32nd climax theory part I just jumptrill the **** out of it and FC with a few goods, I imagine it's awful if you're trying to AAA though.

The minijack patterns are just so uncalled for compared to the rest of the file. Really bothers me.

Also, as for SAMBISTA, just because the omissions were purposeful doesn't mean they aren't jarring and make the file un-fun to play lol

Played the D6 file. A little fast for me in the alternating jumpstream parts but overall really fun. I'm a fan of the (23) 3 (23) 3 (23) 8th jack parts, seemed to fit really well.
Could use a color fix (the purple/pink arrows are weird) and it's a shame the framers wound up so odd. I actually laughed when I saw an 8th jack with a shorter frame gap than a 16th jack, GG FFR

Also huge respect to Dossar for syncing it, sounds real drifty in parts.

That also doesn't mean your opinion is right, and therefore, you don't have to be so abrasive about it. =/

Being abrasive because I'm the one who's going to have to play this file 300 times over the next week >_<

Plus I really like the song, had a lot of potential and I just know bmah could have done a better job with it, given his past successes.

(23)3(23)3(23)3 part gave me trouble because I had to intentionally hit them offsync to avoid getting goods

That doesn't mean it's wrong, either. He's right (IMO) in saying that the song doesn't really flow well at all. The whole song was one big build up for one section (that had a fun jumpstream leading up to it...Then the section itself was lol). I wasn't a huge fan of the song itself, either...But that's whatever.

Halcyon however might be one of the most wonderful files I've ever played. So much fun and the song is amazing.

That was the part I had the most trouble AAA'ing actually, haha.

Also what are you saying Choofers I used DDReam to place every beat in that file

                              bmah's thoughts while stepping halcyon:

"there's a lot of clipping during this sound... yep, using a quad sounds good"

I couldn't find an un-clipped version of that song, even on xi's muzie page. So yeah, it'll just have to sound like some sort of radio edit.
