It's because I practice mashing... it's NOT just pressing 4 buttons down as fast as possible, you can press 4 buttons down rapidly -but intelligently- and dump way less boos and actually get passable PA in the process...

What, you mean controlled mashing? That's something else entirely, and is in fact what pretty much every SM player does when they're doing patterns that are too fast for them to actually hit. It does require reading ability and you can be a lot better at it than others. What people are talking about is essentially ****** mashing where you just dump enough keypresses into the game to combo stuff, and all that shows is that you have some level of uncontrolled jacking ability.


To everyone who's annoyed by how hard the final round songs are: remember that this tournament isn't about the sum of your scores, or about getting eliminated when you do badly. You get points in each round based solely on how many other people in your division you beat on that song. So instead of a super-hard final song being unfair to those who are bad at mashing, it's actually just increasing the range of song difficulty that people get to show their abilities on, with the best skill over the entire range winning. And don't forget that it's a tradition for final rounds to be really hard anyway

It's a skill. Admittedly one that most people don't really care about, but it's possible to be skilled at it, and it shows on files like these.

Agreed. Of course, ****** mashing as fast as you of course is not a skill but what hi19hi19 is trying to get across is that intelligible mashing is a skill. For example, let's say you are trying to get past some ridiculous 300+ bpm runningmen. A person that intelligibly mashes knows not to be mashing each key at the same rate since one of the keys comprises half of the entire pattern. Or if you are intelligibly mashing through a song and you come across some 14141414 megatrill, you're not going to be mashing the 2 and 3 keys.

Wow, I thought you might have listened and chose a decent ****ing song and step chart for the tiebreaker. 1. This is ****ing a very stupid thing made for a tiebreaker. Should be an even amount of skill req'd without looking and getting distracted by choofs face. 2.) the chart if ****ing ridiculously stupid. yeah yeah whatever I'm complaining but at least have decency for a good run for a tiebreaker. Whatever.

+1 to this. Have done this for a lot of the game, but I'm still getting into trying all patterns at this game, stuck at a few areas in the FGO realm. Otherwise, controlled mashing is something I practice quite a bit and it has been somewhat beneficial to me (despite the fact that people can admit mashing isn't a skill). I haven't gotten good enough to actually play some of the patterns in the game, and I'm not going to push myself to ultimate rage trying to improve all areas of my playing. It's pretty fun to try PA on all songs, but some people just mash for the heck of combo-ing or trying to PA in different ways.

Take it you didnt even bother trying to play the song to realize there is a whole section you really dont have a choice but to "mash" it. There is a difference between mashing on easy shit like you like to do and mashing because you have no choice but to do so.

Once again if you played the file im sure you would have saw that there was a section that you had no choice to mash. You should also know that the score was not a serious attempt since I only needed to post something due to krunky not even bothering to try. I played through it once and posted the score. Here I played it again and didnt "mash" as much on the 48th wall.
