Re: Attn: Everyone using mixmeister bpm analyzer

This program makes no sense to me.

It claims that Beethoven's Symphony No. 3 in E Flat Major is well over 100. An ambient space piece by Dano is 110 and a supposedly beatless ambient piece is 160. Another supposedly beatless ambient piece is 103.

Am I supposed to halve this (ie. the beethoven piece would be 50, Dano's piece would be 55 etc. ) or what? Can this possibly be accurate?

Mixmeister only works well with constant bpm songs. Something like Beethoven would be impossible to calculate with it, unless someone made a constant bpm midi or something of the sort. As for ambient pieces, how do you expect it to get the bpm if it doesn't even have any reference points to go off from? It works well with songs with a noticeable beat, but you can easily find the bpm of those yourself anyways.

        also huge bump

Mixmeister works best with constant bpm songs, but if you are stepping a non constant rock song or some metal tune (something that tries to keeps a steady bpm for the most part) it can give you an average bpm which you would put in ddream and start from there.
Mixmieister is not good for classical pieces or anything that has a lot of changes

I personally think it would be easier just to find the bpm yourself if it has distinct sections with various constant bpms.

This could take hours for songs that have multiple changes (The Games We Played had like 2000?). Worse comes to worse have someone who knows how to use DDReam sync a song for you.

I can't recognize the beat in a piece of music.

Is this beat-less? I hear something in the background.

Why doesn't it just say 'unknown' or something?

I was talking about songs that have multiple sections with different constant bpms, such as through the fire and the flames. Songs without a constant beat like tgwp did take hours, even days to sync, back before ddream. Obviously ddream is ideal now, but even then it would take a long time to sync properly.

The bpm seems to be about 84 in this song, listening to the extremely faint ticking I hear in the back.

Like kayla said, it gives you the "average" bpm that it detects. I'm pretty sure you'd need to have a fairly strong beat in order to have it be remotely close.

                        84? Are you sure?

That's disappointing. I'm looking for something completely beatless, or at least 60 bpm, since this has been shown to have a relaxing affect on the brain/body and induce alpha/theta/delta brain waves. Anything that's 80+ bpm is supposed to raise blood pressure, raise levels of aggression and anxiety, inhibit the immune system etc.

Why is it so difficult to come across completely beat-less ambient music? Almost every youtube video I play, the artist or someone else claims that it has no beats but it clearly has beats.
