Re: Castlevania Fan artwork By: Me
While I do agree with some of the things said here, I do NOT agree with how it was said. We all had to start somewhere (although if Belmont has been doing this since 2008...well...maybe photoshop just isn't your thing).
If you're into photo-editing though, you might want to plow through some of these good tutorials on photo edits and retouching.
It can only help you, and these are the types of edits we would want to see here in the art forum.Comment

And no, those are not screenshots.
Those are sprites (Characters & Backgrounds) merged.Comment

Re: Castlevania Fan artwork By: Me
While I wouldn't be as harsh as I was right now if this was his first "art" thread, he was already found stealing songs, putting an off-sync beat over it and claiming it has his remix. And the fact that he's been going at it since 2008 doesn't help.
I do not respect this guy anymore.
What bothers me the most is that he takes credit for stuff he "edited" with the click of a button. I can hardly consider this artwork at all. It's just theft.
If anything, he has set the bar really high for himself, since I have to be genuinely impressed to consider him respectable again.
I suppose I should apologize for my way of saying it in my previous post.

Re: Castlevania Fan artwork By: Me
So here's a few things u people should know about my "artwork":
-Those arent game snapshots. Gameplay snapshots will still have the hp and mp bars.
Plus, if u REALLY know castlevania u will realize that in some of my deviations i mix different castlevania characters (from different castlevania titles) with different castlevania backgrounds (from different castlevania titles too).
-If i "stole" somebody else work or even Konami stuff, why my deviations hasn't been deleted yet?
-I decided to work with sprites since i thought it will be interesting to do something different than drawing (Plus, i suck at drawing)
-If my artwork its really that BAD why hasn't anybody complained on any of my deviations/profile?
Because its from fan to fans.
If u really like castlevania as much as i do (or as any fan does) u will understand the message i want to express on any of my deviations.Comment

Re: Castlevania Fan artwork By: Me
Ok well if you're really transposing these characters onto the backgrounds, do you think you would be up for a challenge?
Transpose this girl onto a castlevania bg.

I know it has nothing to do with the game, and will probably look bad, but being able to do this would certainly lift any doubts anyone has over your skills.
The defensiveness of your last post is what is making me think twice about you. Keep in mind, this is a really, really hard image to work with...but if your skills are where you say they are, then you should do decently with it. I don't expect perfection, but I do expect something that at least demonstrates that you know what you're doing.Last edited by darkshark; 05-17-2011, 02:14 PM.Comment

Re: Castlevania Fan artwork By: Me
Ok I'll break his post down.
That's irrelevant. You didn't make those sprites, you just copied them from spritesheets.
See my first reply
Because it's deviantart.
Just because you haven't been reported yet, doesn't mean you didn't steal someone's work.
Then get better at drawing. Practice makes perfect. Whenever I'm bad at something, I practice! OoOooOOoo
Or make your own sprites at least.
Because it's deviantart.
The deviantart members aren't really a good way of measuring how "good" a piece of "art" is.
To sum it up: Deviantart is a circlejerkfest. You will hardly get any good feedback on it.
And just because someone hasn't reported it yet, doesn't automatically mean it isn't stolen.Last edited by Nullifidian; 05-18-2011, 01:35 AM.

Re: Castlevania Fan artwork By: Me
I know it doesnt help much but i dont use sprite sheets.
I actually take screen captures with the emulators.
What im saying its that those are not a gameplay snapshot.
I mean what is doing Nathan Graves (From Circle of the moon) standing in front of Lydie (Harmony of dissonance) while waiting to stop the Demon's lord power ball (Aria of sorrow) while being on the "castle a" chapel (Harmony of dissonance) on my deviation My body as a shield?
Then comeback and post when you ACTUALLY know if i stole somebody's work
Its not that im lazy or that i dont want to get better but i find more innovating working with sprites what im saying its that when we hear the word artwork we instantly think only of drawings wich i find boring in a way.
I use game sprites since many cool artists use them at Newgrounds (Castlevania parodies)
I also know that its more difficult to animate the sprites than just puting them over other image but i never thought that somebody will be so mad about it.
Thx for the useful fact.Comment

Here it is!
So here it is:

I tried to save as much hair as i could and tried not to bring much of the original pic background.
I was going to leave the image without FX but i really liked how the texturizer looks on this one.
Conte crayon and graphic pen FX looked cool too and even helped to hide the blurry edges but that left the background unrecognizable.
Hope its decent enough.Comment
