Well, I can think of it like that. My upswing was way more than 30 bi, so it's not like I've lost anything. It just sucks a lot.

I don't think anyone here has the roll to stake a 10k buy in though.
Donkaments are donkaments; there's some skill, but luck is a massive factor that is significantly more important than skill in many large field tourneys, meaning tourney variance is massive (you can win virtually nothing for long periods of time, or hit the jackpot relatively frequently).
This is largely because you can't rebuy, and the hand sample is very, very small to the point of being almost entirely meaningless. If someone busts you in a cash game you just reload and play more hands, or well, lose more :P
Given the hand sample, the only reason pros have any sort of edge at all in tourneys is because of the donks. You should definitely have lots of live experience spotting donks before entering a donkament, since the goal, particularly early on, is mostly just to small ball the idiots at your table (unless you get a horrendously bad draw :P )
