Meat is one of the main food groups for a reason.

If you decide not to eat it, fine, that's your choice, but if you're being forced to or you're forcing others about it, then that's a different story.

the main function of meat is protein. the average person needs at least 40-70 grams of protein a day to maintain/grow muscle. Not impossible for a vegetarian or vegan. Whey/soy lecithin protein contains plenty for a vegetarian, rice protein exists for vegans. 1 shake, with 2 spoonfuls, and you're good for the day. (+other food still does contain protein, particularly legumes/nuts etc.)

      totally sustainable, and healthy.

As for being intolerant of their ethical ideologies, thats ur problem. sure, many vegetarians may be assholes. most people are assholes. deal w/ it. they're just trying to do what they think is right like anyone else. no need to hate, even if they hate on you for eating meat. eye for an eye makes the whole world blind my friends

I don't care where my food is from, how it was raised, methods of extracting certain fluids/meats. All I know is, it's delicious: Baked, Fried, Grilled, Steamed, Roasted. I can understand people being against animal abuse, but what else is a cow going to be good for if you don't eat its meat or drink it's milk? It's like a deer being hit by a car, that actually helping balance out and prevent over population of certain animals (along with hunting). I'm sorry, but if we let cows roam free in the wild so help me god I'll ride my huffy around until my calves are so strong I could kick down a ****ing house instead of hitting a 1000lb cow traveling 75mph down I-70.

lol, your username is so close to being an anagram of carnivore. That made me lol.

As a note on that documentary. America has leaps and bounds to make in its beef industry. Some of the barbaric and archaic practices shown in that video have been improved a lot here in australia. Unfortunately there was nothing in that doco that I didn't know or wasn't already well aware of.

            Re: Any vegetarians/vegans on FFR?

I'd love for conditions of slaughter houses and other livestock buildings to be better, but that isn't going to stop me from eating meat.

I think today's generation in particular is rather unaffected by disgusting and morbid images or videos thanks to the internet. Grinding up a cow and having its guts be shredded everywhere just doesn't have the impact today as it would on past generations. So I really doubt that many people would stop eating meat just because of disgusting images.

I was expecting a response about "intolerance" when I posted.

Of course there is nothing wrong with a well balanced diet. That was *not* the point of my post. Some vegetarians legit don't like the taste of meat and therefore don't eat it, but these ones are smart and they know how to get decent nutrition from other non-meat products. It's the other vegans that are like "oh eating meat is wrong," which is what's really stupid.

There is nothing bad about eating meat. Yeah, I use protein shakes too - meat isn't enough to build muscle for me. But meat is a completely natural source of nutrition. What would be "wrong" is continuously killing animals and *not* eating the meat, then you'd just be wasting them. You aren't saving the cow or pig that got killed by not eating meat. I know that many vegetarians are smart and will accept meat every now and then when they're offered it, just that it's not a main part of their diet - but some are just really stubborn and may wind up sick from improper research (not getting enough vital nutrients).

                I love to spank cows.

                I mean eat... yeah... eat...

Anytime I think of a vegan I think "really?"

That's a really stupid point to make about 'waste' though.
no offense. you'll learn about it when you actually take an economics class.

Shut up, okay? I have freedom of speech like everyone else. I shouldn't be singled out just for being a furry.

                        Also, just cause I'm a furry doesn't mean I can't eat meat.

And you have freedom of speech on this site to *some* extent - leonid is right that you have limits.

That's actually a pretty good point, and is kind of the reason I even eat meat.

Even with the world wars, the general public was not that exposed to it. At least not in the US. The first time the general public had a glimpse of the horrors of wars was during vietnam when they publically broadcasted it occasionally.

About the thing of wasting the meat by not eating it, the more people that stopped eating meat products the less demand there would be for them. They would kill less cows to compensate for the lack of demand on them. Obviously it would take massive proportions to get that to happen but yea.
