I feel like there should be an official, miniature version of the FFR forum awards to cover the three months that FFR was up in 2010. Mainly because so much happened in those three months and there are a lot of people to be recognized for sticking around and helping out. I'll see if there's any talk (or at least any opposition) on having an official thread.

There's typically never been pre-made nominations for any forum award because they are way too subjective for one poster to assume they can pre-list things and have even a small segment of the population agree with them. You're better off making a standardized form, and just having people fill in as many responses as they have strong opinions.

Stepfile of the Year
If I could vote for late-2009 songs (because FFR's uptime during 2010 was so short), my vote would go to Tageri by TC Halogen. It is an *excellent* example of what a well-made, tough file should sound and play like. The patterns make sense, the difficulty is appropriate, the song is cool, the color variance looks pretty, and there's no one section that stands out as overly tougher than any other. It's consistently tricky the entire way through. It's a solid file, and I say this as someone who's spent nearly a year in the keyboard rhythm gaming arena. They don't get much better than this. :P

Anyways, back to 2010. I give my vote to Sparkle Downer, but honestly, it sounds like what you'd get if you took RATO and clocked it back 20 years into its infancy before it learned how to be a completely annoying fuckdump of a file. When I play Sparkle Downer, I almost feel like a Vietnam veteran frozen in a glossy-eyed, blank trance of a flashback as painful memories of RATO surge forth to haunt me. Every jack -- every bursty roll -- feels like a latent RATO just waiting to break free and rape my wrists of whatever dignity they have left.

Most Enjoyable Stepfile of the Year (to play)
I'd probably give my vote to Floating Hour by bmah. It's just flat-out *FUN*. The song is lively and the steps fit it very well. I usually enjoy stepfiles that feel very natural -- when my hands and fingers are bouncing lively on the keyboard as if I were playing piano and really getting into it. This file definitely does that. :P

Admin of the Year: aperson and Velocity. I spend a fair deal of time on Skype with these guys, and they're both very intelligent and knowledgeable about programming/design. They've gone a long way in bringing this site back up to snuff.

Forum Mod of the Year: EDIT: NOISORE! I completely forgot he was a mod. Vote goes to him.

Programmer of the Year: aperson and Velocity again. Aperson has done a lot for the site's underlying table structure, optimizing things for speed and fixing broke-ass shit (such as... well, any portion of the site you care to invoke, here). Velocity's engine certainly made a big splash. Aperson's knowledge of SQL/PHP/HTML/etc and Velocity's knowledge of Flash were essential for reviving this site -- so thanks, guys.

Best Forum Member of the Year: Not that I don't think Hammy is a great member, but wtf I like never see his posts all that often anymore. Perhaps we're active in different forums/threads? In terms of what I've seen, my vote goes to Reach. I always enjoy reading his posts (probably because we share so many of the same opinions, but whatever) -- and I think it's important to inject some voice of reason into otherwise retarded threads where nobody really knows what they're talking about.

Most Helpful Forum Member of the Year: TC Halogen. He's the only guy I've seen who will consistently go out of his way to help newbies and make them feel welcome, but in general he's just one to step up to the plate. He's heavily involved in the community and always has quality posts.

Funniest Forum Member this Year: One Winged Angel -- his videos make me LOL. I know how you feel, man.

Most Annoying Forum Member of the Year: Hmmm. Probably ghost-.

Dumbest Forum Member of the Year: Andrew Mitchell. It's one thing to be a troll, but it's another thing to be an annoying asshole who's probably had a labotomy. In other words, this sums it up pretty well. Completely and utterly retarded.

Douchiest Forum Member of the Year: Without A Contraceptive most likely, haha. I always see that guy douching it up -- fun to read.

Worst Forum Member of the Year: Andrew Mitchell again.

Player awards:

Most Improved Player: I don't pay attention enough to scores anymore to be able to form an opinion on this one.

Biggest Playing Whore: One Winged Angel lmfao.

Most skilled Player: Myself. I friggin' AAA'd Death Piano and completely tore RATO apart, man. If I can't vote for myself though, I'd vote for Dossar. He has certain skillsets that few others on this site possess, and I know that he'd come out on top if things really came down to brass tacks. He's the only guy I know who can really give me a run for my money where FFR/Stepmania skill is concerned.

Player of the Year: Either TC Halogen, samurai, or One Winged Angel. Both of them have worked really hard for their ranks and they're both very good players.

I *could* say Floating Hour again, but I can see myself playing Overdrive more for fun. Make more files like this, and not crazy FGO's, okay, blu? (Cette Annee would've been my next choice; I liked it more than anything we've gotten during that FFRmas event, at least.)
