You use a different dialect than I was taught if you use "ish". Ask Panic4Me, we both can't stand that dialect when the person using it doesn't recognize that it's not the only way to use it XD

I lived on field 19, thus I have a Hessian dialect.

Pretty interesting shot there, and that's cool you used to live there too. I'd have to double check which dialect/district we learned about/from, but all the German teachers from my middle -> high school were consistent.

One thing that irked me in high school though; there were other teachers in the county that said that certain dialects were wrong...bugged the crap out of me. A different dialect shouldn't be considered incorrect or wrong when learning. They all need to be addressed because they are all apart of the German language in their own way.

EDIT: Sad that Dutch is dwindling. I knew a Dutch lady where I used to work and I'd overhear her talking to her daughter in Dutch, I thought it was awesome.
