All's said and done now. We buried him today at 1 o'clock, with all of his fun toys and goodies from hanging out with us.

RIP steve, we'll miss you, that's for sure.

Oh wow. I mean I knew he wasn't exactly happy at home but I never thought he would have done this. I know it sounds like I'm repeating what other people have said, but he really did always seem like such a happy guy.

I met jelly when I went to the convention in Bowling Green in 2008. Hammy and I drove to his house in Michigan on the way to DrugstoreCowboy's house where a pile of FFR regulars were staying (myself, Hammy, Sprite, lumpho, manti, flipsta, psychopete, ummm there were more but I don't remember). He was a really nice guy and this really comes as a shock to me. My condolences to his family and friends.

        RIP Jelly.

haha, I remember him telling me about that convention. He got danceguy and I an FFR shirt from there

I was thinking of leaving it in his casket, but I figured I'd rather wear it and remember him every time I do. I'll also remember that time when I had the 42nd highest total score :P

Hey guys, I just joined the FFR community for Steve.

My name is Mick and I am one of Steve's best friends. I just wanted to let you all know how much he enjoyed this site and this community. He frequently showed off his FFR skills to friends at school, and we all knew him for that.

We just had his funeral today and we put his ping pong paddle and also the arrow keys from a keyboard into his casket with him.

I have greatly enjoyed reading all of the comments on here and all of the great things you had to say about Steve.

            Steve really liked you all.

Steve's Obituary can be found here:
Langeland Family Funeral Homes in Kalamazoo and Portage, MI, offers compassionate funeral, cremation, and memorial services with 24/7 support.

You have to select it yourself, he is listed under Van Ness, Stephen Andrew Portage, MI Dec. 9, 2010.

Thank you all for posting the great things, and I hope that Steve is never forgotten. I think I am going to try and start learning FFR now for him.

Ultimate proof that there are always exceptions in cases like these.

According to the obituary, he seemed like a guy who was fun and cheerful (I've never even heard of jellygod before, unfortunately). That's a bizarre case for a suicide - definitely giving my condolences for that one.

What we all probably want to know is why he committed suicide in the first place. Then again, anything is possible nowadays.

Also to add to what I said before, every person who knew him in real life was taken by complete surprise by this.

I literally ate lunch with him at McDonald's the day before... I still don't understand why he did it and it is very difficult.

He was a great guy who cared about people and just wanted to hang out. Over this last summer he came over to my house almost every day and we would play ping pong and go on walks.

I have spent today and yesterday playing Ping Pong and FFR with some of Steve's closest friends.

He will be missed, and I just wish he had let up some warning signs for us so we could have helped him.
