On a related note, the US Army (at least where I am) is kind of taking this with a grain of salt. We know that probably nothing will happen, but since they deliberately fired rounds into SK, there may be some action.

If this causes some new war, then expect us to do something about it. Not that I'm for (or against) another war, but with the way our military works...

honestly we cant afford another war right now, we're far enough in debt with the ones we already have going, altho if we start **** with NK then China will probably stop sending anywhere near their current quanitity of goods to us so our money will stop going to them and more of it might actually stay in country giving us a chance to pay off some of our national debt, at verry least it we may break even given those choices

They're allies, but in a very loose sense. China is like the big brother and North Korea is like its mentally unstable little brother who occasionally beats off in public. China will step in and occasionally try to calm the waters... but if the **** ever hit the fan, you can bet that China isn't going to ruin its relationship with the US for Korea.

Nobody knows when something gigantic is going to break out, especially with a nation as unpredictable as NK. If I had to put money on it I'd say war isn't going to start anytime soon between these two, but it's probable that this war is going to end it's ceasefire one day.

Haven't you noticed that the only motivation for North Korea to attack is military procedures practiced by South Korea? They DID threaten South Korea when the U.S. was practicing some air combat crap in the waters some months ago...

They seem to be provoked whenever the South is training, I think the North might be jealous or nervous.

Or their motivation is to reclaim South Korea. The north and the south have technically been at work for over half a century over opposing territory.

Think about this, all of South Korea's allies, such as the US and wherever else, are all way more diplomatic than China. China controls the world economy, and they're a communist nation. That said, they very well might be itching to get in a fight. While the US and Japan and all the other "free-world" countries are trying to do peace talks and cease fires, China will be revving their engines (as soon as they figure it's bad enough for them to get into.)

China isn't communist, they used to be. Now they're a country with an extremely unique system which contains capitalist and socialist options. Countries like the US are China's greatest customers, why would they want to attack a country they do so much business in? For this reason alone I don't think China would attack any US force/ally.

It's extremely hard, if not nearly impossible to wipe out an unorganized independent militia, or any force using guerrilla tactics like in Vietnam. Fighting a government army/force that doesn't use those type of tactics is a more win/loss situation. The US has a pretty good military force.
