We're doing our best to make things work for everyone. Fact of the matter is, we cannot predict the settings on your particular network. 8080 and 8082 are very standard ports for sending tcp connections for internet applications. If it is not working for you, try some of the suggestions in this thread. If we try a different port, it might work for you, and break it for everyone else.

I don't know that much about the inner workings of profile chat, but please know that we are trying our best to improve the experience for everyone. Please be patient.

I'm not angry, I'm just wondering what's going on and would like to hear more than a 1 line response from an admin.

Then how about you shut the f*ck up and service my nuts. Sorry I can't be at my computer 24/7 to answer all your nagging, I only get about 3 hours a night to work on the site and most of that has been spent on MP recently. I'll look into changing the server configuration to run off of only 8080 later, since more places have that port open, but frankly, I have other stuff I'd rather work on right now, and I'd rather not make any changes at this level of the server without consulting Synth first.

Our Multiplayer gateway that ProChat uses is also having some issues with the Java environment it's running in. To say that the errors it throws are mysterious would be an understatement, but they might be causing connection problems as well. I plan on delving into them after MP is set up, and that might fix things for you then.

Hey if someone wants to list all of their specs and work through troubleshooting the error with me, I'd be more than happy to do it with a smile. If they want to idly nag at me without doing anything useful, then they aren't going to get a very pleasant response from me. This site isn't a business any more, I'm not here to make you smile I'm here to fix things and get the site up and running so we can make this place the fantastic community it was once again.

itt lets change the server configuration so that a few incompetent people can access profie chat. make it easy?? it is easy. if you can open and close a port you shouldn't have any issues. set everything to default and work from there. firewalls, ports, etc. try another browser.

In my honest opinion, while he doesn't have the right to come across the way he did, he has every right to express at least a little bit of frustration when the problem isn't easily solvable, yet people are complaining as if it were a 2 minute fix.

Are you kidding? It's a great way to come across. People that don't provide me useful information to solve stuff are now afraid to talk to me, and people with legitimate bugs that provide me help get support. Win/win imo

If you want a good example of the proper way to send your complaints to me. Go back and look at Wargasm's issue w/ reverting to rank 2600. That was a legit problem, he gave me tons of useful troubleshooting, he worked with me while I logged on to his account to recreate the error, and I got it solved for him and everyone else that used a siggy with more than 2^31 grandtotal points. If you got a problem and address me like that, I'll treat you like sunshine the whole way.

And rushy, I do apologize for flipping out at you, but f*ck dude, the last thing you want to do is be pissy to someone who is putting their soul into fixing this site for you. Your problems are probably more related to things happening on the server end than your firewall as it looks like no one could connect for a lot of today. If you are on later tonight I can contact you on AIM so that we can pinpoint the problem.

Edit: MrMagic, will you be online late tonight? I got a while to work today but I would like to check w/ anyone experiencing this problem just so I can see if it really is a firewall issue or something more sinister.

Btw, I don't like messing with my firewall settings. I'm sorta of okay with computers, but I'm not computer saavy. Not to sound like a hypocrite either, because I did complain, but Profile Chat isn't something that bothers me entirely to the point where I'm gonna rage flip on everyone and demand a quick fix. If I don't ever get into profile, I wouldn't be bothered too much, it's just the fact that sometimes when you want to kick back and relax, and talk to friends that might be in profile chat, you won't have the ability to do so. You know what I mean Ape? Mind if I call you Ape? I don't want to bash your hard work. You're doing the best job that you can, and I applaud your every effort.
