Aggressive?
Why'd you say this though:
I mean, I don't understand what you're saying when "it's a faux pas" to brag about SM music. Why would one person's opinion in music be a faux pas when tastes in music are generally an opinion? There shouldn't be an actual standard as to what music someone likes.[...] ...Granted to normal people they're probably pretty out there and a far cry from the radio music trash they listen to but you can't say that it's not a faux pas now to brag about any music featured in stepmania and ffr within the own damn community... No I mean I think it's not okay to act like because you discovered these music artists/information/techniques or what have you a little while ago you have the right to act like someone who discovered it before everyone else and is an expert on the stuff. It's just my view that modesty and honesty makes someone more respectable as opposed to someone who opens his mouth before he's done thinking. Not accusing OP of that either but just explaining how I think people should act with regards to (cool new thing they learned about).Comment

Re: DJ Sharpnel v.s. t+pazolite
This thread gave me a great idea (debatable), I'm going to analyze the latest CDs of DJ Sharpnel (the ones I have), compile the data (amount of sped up Jap girls/ratio of anime remixes to normal music remixes/etc.), and see what I find. I'm doing it because it sounds like fun (if you don't think it sounds like fun... duh... but look at what I do for fun http://www.flashflashrevolution.com/...d.php?t=109471, yeah, I know), whether it helps kill the cliches or proves them to be true (or neither), whatever, Imma have fun... and a reason to make a thread.
Anyway, back to the topic.~ 2nd Official FFR Gamewhore

Halogen no hard feelings brah but yeah I did come off a little elitist in my first post so my bad.
I remember a thread here a while ago where we had already exposed sharpnel's ~secret formula~, was like speed up anime OPs 1.5x + amen breaks haha.Comment

Re: DJ Sharpnel v.s. t+pazolite
hi
Ok, here I go. lol
Lol, yeah, taking touhou tunes and putting a standard phat hardcore beat to it is definetely alot less generic. Not saying that I don't like it though.
And if you actually listened to t+pazolite's songs, you'd notice that when he doesn't use a touhou tune, he uses high pitched vocals as well.
Ofcourse there are exceptions, t+paz makes original tunes, but his arrangement to original ratio is about 10:1
Sharpnel makes more original material. Aside from the fact that they use japanese vocals in a bunch of their songs, they make their own melodies to the vocals alot of the time.
And songs with vocals in them hardly cover everything of their discography.
That is speedcore, not hardcore. And the song calendar (real name: 暦) was cut humongously btw. There's 8 minutes of a heartbeat and random crap before it lol.
Also, Listen to KillingScum, Sharpnel's alias for speedcore.
Real quality? Mainstream?Neither my god you can't be more generic from an FFR-based system. Why don't you list Cornandbeans (no offense to him) up there while your at it.
Go find some real quality like Sam and Pledger or W&W or Arnej or something less mainstream holy **** this thread is the kind of thread that pisses me off. There is more to life than just Dj Sharpnel and T+Pazolite.(no offense to either artist.)
Do you have any idea how small the J-Core scene still is? And by J-Core scene I mean the actual J-Core scene, not the people who loooooooooooove sharpnel and have only listened to shihen or some other crap. Just because you and a few thousand stepmania players have "heard" a few (very few?) sharpnel songs doesn't make it mainstream.
And quality is in the eyes of the beholder. I for one enjoy crazy synth to fast paced beats.
Also, why anyone thinks of mainstream as bad is beyond me. As long as you think the song sounds good, it shouldn't matter.
I expected better from you.
Just shows how much songs by sharpnel you have heard.
Again an opinion not shared by everyone. I think Thunderdome and MoH sucks cause they try too hard to have a dark sound.Among the Hardcore artists around the world, sorry, but they suck, really suck. Go listen any of the artists featured at european festivals like Masters of Hardcore and Thunderdome. I really think they're not generic as t+pazolite and Sharpnel.
And among the electronic music japanese artists, people like Teranoid and L.E.D. are better. Oh, and I can't forget about REDALiCE and Shimamura.
REDALiCE and Shimamura both have a ton of songs that aren't too great either imo.
Teranoid and L.E.D. don't make bad songs, but they don't make songs that stand out either, with very few exceptions.
120 dollars is a bit steep, and there are only about 3-4 auctions that are that high every time. And these auctions show up everytime cause no one is buying them, leaving you to believe they're all that expensive.
CD's that are still in print are all about 20 bucks, and CD's that are out of print tend to range from 30 bucks to 90, and the occassional 120 bucks.
Most auctions don't end up higher than 60 bucks though.
Terrible price, for any of t+pazolite's cd's.
the GABDSG series was limited to 100 copies each I believe
In the J-Core scene it is lol
This pretty much.
And before people go and say I'm biased towards Sharpnel and need to expand my horizon, I don't limit myself to just Sharpnel.
I listen to all kinds of j-core artists, and I listen to alot of breakcore, Drum 'n Bass, IDM, dubstep, pop and certain genres of rock as well.

Re: DJ Sharpnel v.s. t+pazolite
Cool story bro. I read through the whole thing and it touched me heart while educating me about certain facts within the music industry of hardcore techno in Japan and its popularity that has reached through the world after music had spread from Japan and onto the internet to other listeners and even Stepmania artists whom highly enjoy the music as something to listen to and chart for and to share and continue to spread towards other people who would then do the same and thus continuously increasing the popularity of artists in Japan.Comment
