ok about the new slim ps3 i know theres no way they kept all the same features as the big one.. can some one who did there research tell me wat they took out on the new $299 slim. itz vital that i know

The only thing they took out is the ability to easily install Linux.

Everything else is in tact, and the slim actually has the additional feature of bitstreaming audio codecs for Blu-rays. Plus a bunch of other improvements. If you weren't looking forward to installing Linux on your PS3, the slim should fit every need you may have equally or better than the "fat" model.

ps what is crap about the PS3? The hardware is good, has plenty of nice features, and can play Blu-rays. The only thing that sucks about it is the price, but the price is actually pretty appealing now with the slim. I'm not a fan of their exclusives myself so I wouldn't buy a PS3 myself, but it's definitely not a bad piece of hardware.

It has common games. Like, you know, the great and all-powerful Rock Band games.

And things like Metal Gear Solid if that floats your boat.

And the Katamari Damacy remake. I'd like to have that one personally. Not enough to drop 300 bucks on a console I don't need though. But then again, if it had PS2 emulation, I probably would.

But really, if the person isn't interested in 360 exclusives (I'm also not interested in those either, hah!) and wants a BD player, the slim PS3 is probably their best bet. That is, assuming they don't mind their BD player having an audible ventilation system.

There is a credible rumor coming up that the playstation network will soon be releasing ps2 games as downloadable content. Either way I own a ps2 and ps3 so it doesn't matter to me. Like you said your not interested in 360 exclusives same here I know the ps3 in general is a better console than the skeleton called the 360. When I pay full price for my ps3 I know I'm getting a better deal. There is nothing wrong with the network it runs fine especially when I've played games like mag that introduce 256 players.

God of War, Ratchet and Clank, the upcoming Jak series, and Final Fantasy by themselves are worth the $300 for almost any player. The Xbox has Banjo and Kazooie, but they screwed that game up, and even though they have Halo, no one has the right to call that a good game because you have to have a good story to have a good game, sorry, stop trying. Left for Dead is coming to the PS3 so that works for me lol.

PS3's library is so much better than the Xbox's library (since all the popular games are for both anyway) and if you disagree with that, then you don't know what you're talking about and it's just a matter of taste, so shove your Xboxer mentality up your ass and shut up. I have absolutely no reason to buy an Xbox, the exclusive games don't suit me and the community is terrible.

yeah apparently ps3 needs more good games library, it hasn't surpassed PS2's yet at all.

xbox's game library is basically similar to PC's so idc.

Both God of War games are on the PS2. The new one isn't out yet. Don't tell me a game is good before it's released. See below.
The first Ratchet & Clank Future game got good reviews, but the second one sucked ass. Killer app? No.
The new Jak game is going to be on the PS2 ONLY. I wonder why?
Final Fantasy is going to be on the 360 and PS3. I wonder why?

Funny how you say it's a matter of taste, and then you tell me to shut up because I don't know what I'm talking about. You really haven't given me any proof. You gave me one good game that had a mediocre sequel, a game that isn't out yet, a game that isn't coming to the PS3 at all, and a game that has a multi-platform release.

The best part is, you assume that I have an "Xboxer Mentality" when I don't even own a 360. Where anywhere have I said anything about the 360? All I said was that my (now $300) isn't worth the mediocre selection of games on the PS3.

The exclusive games don't suit you? Fine. The community is terrible? Back it up.

Uh, the 'second' Ratchet game for the PS3 was a 4 hour expansion pack that cost $15, and it didn't suck. The Jak game is - low and behold - a port of a PSP title. No dur, it's going to suck. But Naughty Dog is developing the Uncharted series. Uncharted 2 is getting rave reviews. Pre-judging God of War is not a bad idea, as the first two games are phenomenal, AND the GoW series is getting re-released in high def on one BR disc for $40 bucks.

I enjoy my free online, too. I also have an X-box, but my PS3 gets far more play.

Oh yes, all the popular games are on both platforms.

Unless by "other platform" you meant the PC. Then that makes sense. Every good game eventually makes its way to the PC with the best graphics and features in place, which is why I am a PC gamer.
