I just burn my mp3's onto a cd and then put them in my portable cd player.

Uh, he was calling himself a geek. Not you.

I have an iPod. I didn't want it, but now that I have it, I can't think of what life would be without it. I have to walk 10 minutes from my car to class for every class of the day. That could be 10 minutes of silence or 10 minutes of anime themes.

Also, I got the 40 gig. I have never even broken 10 gigs of music at one time. Why would my parents think I need a 40gb iPod when I didn't ask for one at all? Who knows...

Same thing for me came home from school on my 16th birthday instead of a car I get a 40 gb Ipod. I love the thing and have over 1000 songs on it but that is not even close to filling it I do not think I ever will. Too poor to afford music cuz all the moeny goes towards my new old old old crappy car.

RE: Re: RE: Ipods what do you think about them?

See my sig. Clearly I have an iPod. 40 gigs.

iTunes is annoying, but is good for its search abilities and being on a huge college network, everyone who has iTunes in my dorm is linked together. I can listen to their music.

Also, how do you people have 2500ish songs and only 10 gigs? I have about 3000, and am closing in on 20 gigs. 18-19. Then again, all my stuff is encoded at a decent quality (192+), so they are larger files. Then again, even at better quality, its still 6k-7k songs that will fit in 40 gigs. Screw 128.

And, for the idiot who started this thread.... try doing some research for yourself. Try typing in sentences. Try not sounding like a compete bafoon by saying an iPod holds 4 megs. The majority of my songs are over 4 megs EACH. With that, if you like music, listen to alot of music, and are away from your home/music source alot, then an iPod is amazing. I didn't want mine at first, but when it was bestowed upon me by the Great Whorli, I was able to see all that I had been missing. No longer do I have 15 minute walks to and from class each day. No longer do I have to pay attention in my boring lectures. I have 3000 songs to shuffle between, or play the full albums in order, depending on my mood, that will hold my full attention when I would otherwise have silence.

              Long live the iPod.

PS - I feel sorry for the person that actually pays for MP3s. Not to mention the fact I have almost 400 CDs, full length CDs and complete band discographies are extremely easy to download. Of course, as this happens to be frowned upon by our beloved government, I will refrain from listing any of my sources. And, if any of you n00bs try and IM me asking for URLs, I will bitchslap you into n00bie heaven. I hate lazy and worthless individuals. I found all my websites myself, and you can too. Google is your friend.

I actually find the Nomad Jukebox to be a lot better.. though i've never used an Ipod..
the nomad was only 200$ 30 gig and has shuffle.
I listen to it almost nonstop.
My little FM tuner thing that takes over radio frequencies is quite kickass.

I love my iPod. I hate the battery life, the lack of .wma formats, the freezing, the shitty packed in earbuds and iTunes, but I love my iPod!

What was the point of that paragraph? To show us that you're '1337' enough to not have to pay for music? I haven't bought a CD in over three years and I've got almost 20 gigs on my computer, but I don't go around bragging about it.

Furthermore, don't feel sorry for the people who buy CDs. Be happy for them, and laugh at them in the background. Because you can bet that if nobody bought CDs, the RIAA would have cracked down a helluva lot harder on pirates.

No, you can use it on shuffle, or set up your own playlist in order.

I have a 15 GB ipod that I got for my birthday last year, and while they aren't cheap, I'd have to say that it's totally worth the cost. The convenience of having all your music organized and easy to get to makes it all worth it to me. I honestly don't know how it compares to similar mp3 players, but I don't really care, since I have very few complaints about my own. Probably the only thing that gets me sometimes is the battery life, but its really not bad if you regularly charge it between uses.

I must be the only one here that likes itunes... What's so bad about it?

It's giant, bulky, system hogging bloatware, for one. The interface is completely nonsensical, and only barely can define it's iPod relation as 'plug and play.' It freezes constantly, won't organize my music the way I want it to, is user hating and noncustomizable, and worst of all, tries to make you recopy all of your music into it's library. 5 gigs of my harddrive is wasted because of all the music I copied onto iTunes before I figured out a workaround. I mean really, what oh what is so difficult about drag and drop functionality? I CAN DO IT MYSELF THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

iTunes is the Windows of music.

RE: Ipods what do you think about them?

What exactly makes these little beasts of modern technology overrated? They do everything they say they can do, and they do it well. They were the hot thing for Christmas but that couldn't be because they're worth it can they? Oh no, they're overrated.

I haven't had any problems with battery life so far. The time it ALMOST ran out of battery is when I hadn't used it in a couple weeks and it was going on and off due to where it was stored. I'm getting 6 - 12 hours and I do plan on just buying the replacement battery from whomever when the time comes.

Everyone says it and it's true, Windows and iTunes don't mix. At first you have no idea what could make it so bad. It started for me when the first time I plugged my iPod into my computer iTunes didn't recognize it. XD

I use it everyday, or I try to. Especially on the weekends woo-boy. The iPod basically WAS my Christmas, but I'm glad I got it.

The ipod wants you to use only songs from itunes, but it doesnt do a very good job at it. There are several ways to get songs on and off of it without itues. Also, ipods are good but theres always a cheaper version out there that will do the exact same thing. Thats why people say it's overrated, it's like windows, everybody uses it just because everybody else uses it...

Yeah, you're right, you know that? We should have at least 30 different major OSes, just like we have mp3 players. That way, whenever you go to the store, you only have three or four games to choose from. I mean, developers wouldn't want to port the game THAT many times, so they'd just create it for the biggest OSes. Either that, or the shelves would be full of 30 different OS copies of the same game. Then all the publishers and developers would die out because they couldn't afford to produce 30 versions of the same game and suddenly their market is reduced to 1/30th of what it formerly was.

Little thing called 'Standardization', bud. Windows did a lot of things, not all of them good, but it standardized the computer industry. We'd be ten years back in technology right now if we didn't have a leading OS.
