I've always thought that the people who placed top 8 in the last official tournament should automatically be moved up to the next highest division. I mean whats the point of having someone win the same division multiple times.

EX that would mean the top 8 from D4 in the last tourney:

Well it doesn't exactly work for D5'ers (but you're such a small amount of the population it doesn't matter) >=D

There could be a champion of D5 division (essentially a D6) That people could only enter by top 8'ing D5 of an official tourney. I think you'd much more deserve a permanent plaque or something though somewhere on the site

I feel like it could be worthwhile, if someone were to try and set up a long-term league-style thing, to do this like the various pro football clubs do. At the end of the season, the topX and bottomY people in each tier switch to the other.

The only problem lies in the top people of D5 and the bottom people of D1. Would you make more divisions like D6 and D0 for the top D5 and bottom D1, respectively? Or would they be kept in that same division?

Nah--they'd just stay at D5, since the skill level really doesn't get much higher than that anyway. It's up to the aspiring D4 players to move up to D5 and take everyone out. New players decide the future of the game.
