The way I see it, for FFR purposes, AAA is the highest possible score on a song. Just getting rank 1 doesn't make it AAA; the reason a rank 1 score is counted as AAA, I think, dates back to the avmiss era - AAA wasn't PFC on every song, so it was far easier to just count all rank 1 scores as AAA than to figure out the best possible score for each song and set them all individually. (That was probably back before the game recorded PGAMBC statistics, too.) This should be treated as a bug, though, since rank 1 doesn't always mean the best possible score anymore.
