"I feel it's a waste of time playing video games because it's not helping humanity in any way"

Re: 11-year old graduates college
While I think motivation is definitely a huge factor, some people are simply just born gifted. You need both to succeed though; even if you are a genius, if you don't give a damn about your education, you are just as well off as a drunk bum off in the streets.
I think his statement was not meant to be taken literally lol. He probably wants to use his time more productively.
Not that playing videogames is bad, you just need to know how to manage your time well.Comment

Re: 11-year old graduates college
If you don't like it so much, why don't you actually motivate yourself to be knowledgible and brilliant rather than rag on someone else who is? Don't use this as an excuse to say "OH THIS KID IS SMARTER THAN ME AND HE'S 11 HAHA I'M GONNA FAIL AT LIFE NOW!" because he accomplished something. I hate it when people get jealous of child prodigies and use it as an excuse to not do something. It's wasteful. You know what, he makes me so frustrated. People like him make me look bad. Just because he's an unfun prick doesn't mean he has to rub it in people's faces. I hope he has a scuba diving accident.
That or I hope that he turns to drugs as a teenager and ends up being an example of the downfall of another brilliant mind. He can kiss my ass.
Don't complain, bender. This kid set his mind and soul to achieve a goal. Why don't you do the same instead of letting jealousy poison your mind?Comment

You can't just simply "try hard" and suddenly graduate at 11 years of age.If you don't like it so much, why don't you actually motivate yourself to be knowledgible and brilliant rather than rag on someone else who is? Hell, I try hard to keep up my high honor roll but it gets destroyed entirely cause of one teacher who thinks he's funny.
People that say doing homework will get you good grades in classes. Guess what, that's utter ****. Other kids in your class can not do homework but 100% the tests and still get a B while you do homework and struggle to pass the tests.
See where I'm getting at here? Working HARD does not make you graduate at half the age of a usual person. This kid is just trying to hide his actual path.Originally posted by hi19hi19oh boy, it's STIFF, I'll stretch before I sit down at the computer so not I'm not as STIFF next time I step a fileComment

Re: 11-year old graduates college
Your point??
I was just stating that this kids statement versus why he wouldn't "waste his time" playing games is arguable. Id rather challenge myself wasting countless hours on a game trying to complete the games tasks to the fullest than sit in class and perform calculus problems Einstein couldn't even imagine.
Games are for entertainment, and for some, a nice challenge and sometimes a bit of competition. But a 11 year-old graduate is far too ignorant to realize that.Comment

I bet he'd also want to gain all that intelligence to try outsmarting people on the internetYour point??

In my opinion everyone is different but taking large chunks of time studying materials you don't even need to know yet is just nonsensical as it removes social time as well. Online gaming that "wastes time" is also another method of communicating with friends. He must be a loner.Originally posted by hi19hi19oh boy, it's STIFF, I'll stretch before I sit down at the computer so not I'm not as STIFF next time I step a fileComment

I was slightly disagreeing with your statement that the kid isn't a genius. I believe that you have to have some natural talent if you are to achieve what the kid did.Your point??

I actually agree that the kid not playing any games is a bit absurd, everyone needs to take a break and have fun once in a while.Comment

Re: 11-year old graduates college
It doesn't take graduating college to outsmart people on the internet, it just takes a bit of knowledge in what you are discussing and bit of ignorance. For example, I argue with Zero a lot in person, but even if I'm right, he will make himself seem more superior through twisting words and such. Nothing more than a little extra than common sense.I bet he'd also want to gain all that intelligence to try outsmarting people on the internet

Also, your right, i don't think anyone will ever ask me "hey can you solve this polynomial for me" (excluding some smartass). And yes, very lonely not to touch a game at that age, his friends are his books and the clothes he wears.
He has a pokemon game in his backpack, were just stupid to find it because he is such a genius and placed it in a vortex through the outer portion of his pocket that only he can reach.I was slightly disagreeing with your statement that the kid isn't a genius. Re: 11-year old graduates college
Can someone clue me in to how someone of his age can even get a degree from a university? How the **** did he get admitted with only 5th grade under his belt?
?__?
Why did I have to go through highschool if I could've gone to a university at the age of 11?Comment

Re: 11-year old graduates college
I've been wondering that to. My guess is lots of expensive private school who feeds you credit hours in short periods of time. Doesn't really seem fair. If i could have skipped all that busy work at those public highschools and focuses on actually learning I bet I would have done really good to.
At least I got to be a kid and he didnt.Comment

Re: 11-year old graduates college
I guess not, but I was recognized as a gifted (not retarded you fags) child by the time I reached 2nd grade. They knew I was smarter than all the little pukes I played with at recess. My state test scores were all in the upper 90th percentiles in every category by the time I got to 5th grade and I still didn't get to go to a university.
EDIT: Ah yeah...private school. ****. I went to public school.Last edited by foilman8805; 06-10-2009, 11:16 PM.Comment
