    Re: World of Warcraft

    So in the end, I was:

    Explaining the fight
    Handling the loot
    Calling out things to watch out for over vent
    Organizing the DPS
    Congratz? You've done your very first raid lead? Nice to see people who don't always automatically assume that the main tank's job also includes doing all of those things.

      Re: World of Warcraft

      Most of your totems can be replaced now, Squeek. I think at least.

      Windfury = Improved Icy Talons
      Strength of the Earth = Horn of Winter
      Stoneskin = Devotion Aura
      Flametongue = Demonology Warlock
      Wrath of Air = Boomkin
      Mana Spring = Blessing of Wisdom
      Resistances = Pally auras

      Ones that no one else has abilities that are similar;
      Healing Stream
      Grounding
      Totem of Wrath

      Now, the only thing shamans bring is Heroism/Bloodlust.

      And there's a difference between DPS and damage. I personally know a lot of people who don't necessarily push out gobs of DPS, but their damage is really high and vice-versa. I'd rather have someone with 2.5k DPS that's topping damage then someone pushing 6k DPS and they're 5th on damage(and still alive)

            I generally do what you do, except I work in heroic strikes more because I use the glyph of revenge. Devastate is almost worthless except for refreshing the sunders.

            You shouldn't talk down to people you don't know anything about, acting like you know more and then try to show them up in the forum. That's how you get absolutely no where.

              Psycho, you missed:

              Cleansing Totem (automatic de-poison and de-disease)
              Tremor Totem (automatic de-fear, de-sleep, de-charm)
              Magma Totem (technically just our only AOE but whatever)
              Searing Totem (technically just a single-target attack thing but hilariously useful for leaving on Heigan's platform during the dance)
              Earthbind Totem (Similar to Frost Trap, except Elemental Shaman now get an AOE Entangling Roots when it first goes down)
              Fire Elemental Totem (2 minutes of roughly 4k dps)
              Earth Elemental Totem (2 minutes of a decent tank)
              Stoneclaw Totem (aoe taunting and totem guard -- can be glyphed to be a shield)

              And you can never assume that all of those people who cancel our Totems are in the raid.

                Yeah, but those don't buff the raid. Cleansing and Tremor totems I will admit that I forgot about the automatic dispelling, but you can get away with just having someone cleanse them too. Tremor is the only unique one in my book.

                  Except that Cleansing Totem is much better than any other anti-disease/poison. Cleanse Poison/Disease is good, but it costs a lot more and does the same thing only over 1/25th of the time of my totem.

                  I haven't really been deep into Ulduar yet, but for Naxx, Cleansing Totem is a godsend in Heigan and Maexxna, and has plenty of raid utility in Faerlina and trash pulls in Spider. And since Blizzard decided to make Mana Spring Totem completely worthless (thanks guys), I don't even care about dropping it anymore since it's not replacing anything worthwhile.

                    Cleanse Poison/Disease is good
                    Cleanse removes one poison, one disease AND one magic (As in, if you have all three on you, all three go in one cast) at 40 yard range, instant cast, for (for me) 263 mana.

                      Yeah and cleansing totem removes 25 diseases from 25 people.

                      It wins.

                        Well, it removes one each from 25 people, assuming they are all in range of it, and potentially takes the place of a more useful totem that could be down.

                          Actually it's only 5 people. It's a party-only ability.

                          Some of our totems are not raid-wide and Blizz refuses to make the distinction clear.

                            Ugh, Jumped into a 10-man group that was mostly from one guild, Undying run all the way through to Sapphiron when we lose two people to a bonehead move where every single person all piled in behind he first ice block, before there was a second iceblock, so it landed right onto the whole party.

                            Amateurs.

                                I love being able to throw on my PvP gear, toss on my offspec as Arms and trash BGs or Arenas and then for raid time throwing on my tank gear and going Prot. I hated spending 100g+ a week so I could do more than just tank.

                                Ulduar is tons of fun. It'd be better if our healers would wake up. A lot of the wipes(read: all of them) are from the healers just not paying attention to what's going on and forgetting to heal the tanks(read: me).
