People who run tournaments aim to pick difficult songs and by the amount of complaints, most of which I understand, it seems like its a pretty difficult song for most people to play. Not everyone is going to enjoy song selections and its a real pain to try and tailor to everyone else's needs. I mean, everyone has an opinion on a song and some times its shared by others like the song choice for all of you and then theres times when people are in disagreement over a song weather it be too hard or too easy or things like that. I understand that pain of having to play bad songs and Ive played in plenty of tournaments where it is bad song after bad song and it sucks, but you just need to buck up and deal, its not like the song is going to kill you or anything. The fact that everyone seems to not like it should cause a fair amount of competition and you only have to deal with the song till the end of the round.

Also, I do think if you have a problem with a song or placement, it should be done privately or just keep it to yourself. I know its been said already, but most of this will fall on deaf ears and complaints will continue to flow, thats just the way it is. Just deal and have fun, it is just a game.

Haha, geeze...I'm surprised at how some people here can't handle one unsatisfying situation like this that's really not that bad. It's like people have gotten spoiled over the years FFR has been around and over-complain if a song isn't good enough to meet their expectations in a tournament. (As if the tournament song choice revolves around their tolerance.) I'm testing more than just your FFR skill in this tournament. I'm determining the social aspects you have as a member on this team and how you act in different situations pertaining to team activities. Props to those who've dealt with any song choice (and division placement) and took it on as a new challenge. I'm keeping track of those with a better attitude and they'll be rewarded. As for those who complain without clear, objective reasoning, don't expect any more responses from me. If you can't deal with an annoyance as small as this, you have some work to do.

Oh, and thank you to those who've been helping with calming others down.

I'll do an update now. Round ends in about nine hours.

Oh for the love of God, please don't! I don't think I can ever SDG this song, at least within the next ~7 hours.

EDIT: Not necessarily a SDG, but it does BARELY put me above Guru. If I hadn't freaked out near the end on the jumps, I probably could have had about 1/2 the goods, maybe 1 or 2 boos. Whenever I can tell I'm doing really well, I get so nervous and **** up. The gauntlet has been thrown

                      Re: Team Blue's 1st Tournament

I apologize for the LONG post, but I felt this deserved to stand on its own.

I remember when M.A.M.A first came out - this was back when I still played 3-finger. I thought it was the perfect song for me since it only had 3 arrows, so I could essentially play it "spread" as if it were a normal 4-arrow song. Although my standards were much lower then, I thought I raped at this song (which equated to me FC'ing it with around 40 goods and 20 boos lol). When Blooddrunk was released, I made the ultimate decision to switch to spread, since I figured FFR was going to follow this trend of 3+ arrow jumps and other more spread-friendly files. Everyone raved about how much better you'll become if you switch to spread, and since I want to be the very best ("like no one ever was"...lol), I took their advice. My first time playing M.A.M.A on spread was horrendous. I thought it would be even simpler than before, but my practice using spread on other songs worsened my ability to read/play this song. After a few tries, I swore off ever playing M.A.M.A again, at least while I played spread.

Now that it was this round's song, I had to lift the self-inflicted ban and face my fears. FC'ing it seemed impossible, since I couldn't managed to pass the 200 combo mark. The fingerings are awkward, and I seem to always do something different in the 32nd note runs. But I kept at it for several hours, and I managed to get my 1st FC ever since my 3-finger days with a 22-4-0-3. A couple more playthroughs, I cleaned it up to a 24-0-0-0. I was the only one to submit a score by then, but I knew if I stayed with this, I would surely lose this round. About 30 plays later, I managed to get under 20 goods. This felt like my limit. I was going to stay at this score...until other people started submitting. Just as I suspected, they had good/close SDG's. I now started praying that no one else submitted so that I could hopefully get to the next round and perhaps do better on a harder song. Next thing I know, I'm on the chopping block. After getting out of my Physics Lab today, I get ready to buckle down for what I expected to be a very long, very tedious, very frustrating night of whoring M.A.M.A. Lucky for me, it took about 30 minutes to get my 9-2-0-4, then about 3 more tries after that to get this current score here. 5-1-0-1.

The funny thing is, during this playthrough, I really DID have to take a dump But if you're wondering, no, I did not hold true to my promise above, and for that I'm sorry lol. So why did I bother making such a long-winded post just to lead up to a 5-1-0-1 on a song quite a few can probably AAA with little effort?

The only way I can think you would suddenly have more of a chance later on in relation to skill would be because some of your stronger competition became unfortunate and forgot to submit/had life problems that made them unable to submit over time. In that case, you would have more of a chance due to luck, not due to skill. Yeah, that's not what we're shooting for here.

This tournament's goal is to challenge you so you'll improve and to involve you in a good amount of competition. Guess what not giving you an easy song for round one is doing? Yup, challenging you so you'll improve and involving you in a good amount of competition. The tournament's goal is not to give you a better chance at winning because that obviously can't be given to everybody participating. You say it was good that you actually had to fight in later rounds, but why not in the first round even though it essentially proves the same thing? To me, it appears that you just don't like having a lesser chance at winning. It really doesn't feel like you truly like to challenge yourself "all the time" because if you did feel that way, you wouldn't be complaining about being challenged in the first round. You want to have a better chance at winning? Constantly challenge yourself. (And yes, this includes during the first round. Why wouldn't it?) You'll improve quicker and you'll have a better chance at winning. There's an apparent connection to "having a better chance" and "challenging yourself" that I think you're missing.
It is because Hammy is completely correct. The point of this tourney, and most other tourneys, shouldn't be about trying to get credits, but for improving your skills and pushing your abilities to their farthest. When I was placed in Expert, I had to try very hard not to vehemently argue such a misplacement. I wanted to be left in Advanced where I was, since I had hoped that I would easily come out on top. But I'm finally realizing now after getting this score that I was in fact placed where I belong. Although we're only two rounds in, I've noticed a significant boost in my PA and ability to read jumpstream. Even if I ultimately don't make it out at the top of my division, I can at least see my improvement thanks to my placement in the tourney. I'm one of the most self-hating people you'll ever meet, but even this has made me somewhat proud in my skills (and trust me, making me proud of myself is something my friends, family, and even girlfriend fail to do most of the time). If I do advance to the next round, I can't wait for the next song. I'm assuming it's going to be a low FMO.

tl;dr Version: I can't believe I got a 5-1-0-1 on M.A.M.A, and I wouldn't have gotten it if I didn't push myself like Hammy and the division sorters intended.

Oh, and here's my score. I almost forgot to post it lol

I also quit Team Blue. Take my name off the list Hammy.

Later guys, good luck with everything. (For those of you that are in the same boat I'm in, I wish you the best of luck. Dont waste your time if you know you've been misplaced.)

Classic guru right there. Some people enjoy the challenge and feel much more rewarded for accomplishing things they thought beyond their initial scope of ability. You clearly lack that mentality and probably hate things that aren't easy for you. The fact that you claim you will be number 1 some day is really laughable. I really doubt that day will ever come just from watching how you act in tournaments and such. On a much lighter note, I can't wait for the next round in...and hour and a half, lol.
