Re: so school is cancelled here, interesting reason
School back home was canceled yesterday and today for this. Today was worse, -37F windchill I think. Yesterday it was only like -28F. When I went outside this morning for class, the temperature was -18; we had class, and we walk. Stupid university.
Re: so school is cancelled here, interesting reason
Back in Ohio, my school never closed unless the windchill made it feel like -25 to -30, or we had like 3+ feet of snow. Which really wouldn't happen in northern Ohio along Lake Erie, so I always had school. =(
And I live in Texas now so always school so now closings from cold; But school can close if there are serious enough thunderstorms that could cause flooding in the Spring/Early Fall.

Re: so school is cancelled here, interesting reason
cold here is a different kind of cold than out west since we're on the atlantic ocean. the air is more humid so it makes it 100 times harder to breathe especially in cold weather.
2 minutes outside meant frostbite so i think i'll stay in here for an while. so deceiving it's nice and sunny out =(
i was gonna go to college but i was forced into staying home to play stepmanier by my parents. no qualms.

Since I live right by the border to Michigan, we get lake michigan humidity.
Probably not as extreme, but it does make it a lot harder to breathe and you get frostbite.

yea i suppose. i just wish it were colder and we had more snow here. by the time any storm system gets here it's gone through the rockies and lost most of its strength.
plus you get the odd chinook that melts half the snow in the day and turns it into ice at night >.<
Re: so school is cancelled here, interesting reason
our temperatures vary from 40 celcius to -50
here the way storms work, it comes from the states, dumps all the snow in new-brunswick and DESTROYS halifax which results in them getting wrecked by 150km/h winds lmao
