How would Tass feel if a porn spam bot got a lawsuit on FFR from an angry 13 year old's parent? Like I said, we want reasons why and admins, not just a "no." That doesn't matter who it comes from. I can IM Tass, too.

We know it's a problem. More than you do. And we know better than you do about what to do about it.

You guys are seeing it as "Anything you can do to kill off the bots", which is the wrong way to look at it. You need to look at it as "Kill off the bots without turning away a single legitimate user". And you have no idea just how difficult that actually is.

They don't tell us anything, anymore. If they did we could feed them better ideas.

What the hell do you want from us? We have zero obligation to tell you anything other than "we're working on it" and we've given you that and so much more.

Yeah, we're doing nothing.

You maybe see a tenth of the actual number of spambot threads. That's being generous. Shut up and deal with it like everyone else. We've been trying to work ways of preventing bots from registering for a while now. It's difficult because Synth has set strict guidelines on the registration procedures as he wants 100% of legitimate users to be able to sign up.

PS - I have yet to see you send me a message on AIM telling me about adbots.

That would be annoying as fuk to hav a new IM every 13 or so minutes with a link to the thread of spy/ad bot, especially in the morning when theres about 8 threads on the main page. Unless this is another way of asking for user help by simply us telling a Mod/Admin when theres a thread.

You don't need a link. Just pop on aim and say "adbot". We'll go to the forums, click "New Posts", see it/them, and take care of it in less than a minute.

This, or you could ignore us and leave them to fester hoping eventually one of us will check in on the forums despite the fact that we all have full-time careers in the real world and better things to do than to refresh the forums every thirty seconds.

Seriously adbots aren't that big a deal.

Spambot protection can be solved by something as simple as putting a "human" test in by making someone think for half a second and answer a question

Making a full scale debate out of something dumb is stupid, but because it's the internet people feel obligated to argue with each other because EVERYONE has their heads so far up their asses that they don't realize that it doesn't matter.

I am telling you that the ideas presented to us on the forums on how to prevent spambots at the registration stage are stupid and will never work.

I don't see any post in here that says "stop reporting bots to us and let them run rampant because we just don't care anymore."
