They said somewhere that they were making "premium" Stratocasters which were just real Strat bodies with the buttons put on 'em.

      Lucky Europeans.

Find in-depth gaming news and hands-on reviews of the latest video games, video consoles, and accessories.

When you preorder World Tour, you get a free guitar.

So you get all four instruments for the price of three.

        Re: Guitar Hero World Tour

Does anyone know how many downloadable songs are going to be on Guitar Hero: World Tour?

I know Rock Band 2 has over 500 songs available for download, but does Guitar Hero have at least 250 or something like that?

          Re: Guitar Hero World Tour

GHWT currently has 0 songs for download (seeing as, you know, it's not released), and there's obviously no backwards compatibility for old GH songs because there's no vocal charts or drum charts put in.

They'll never catch up to Rock Band's DLC.

1200 note limit/3:00 length limit on chart creator

means i can't play holy orders or almost any of the other things i wanted to try

means there's a fair chance i won't bother buying this

GHWT would have a pretty limitless number of possibilities if this wasn't the case, but I prefer Rock Band's possibility to have songs that are, y'know, longer than "below average" in length

And Afrobean for once I absolutely agree with you. Although GH:WT looks to be the better choice in the long run, Squeeks points are ridiculous

okay so apparently you can only fit the average punk song into the chart creator

that or pump up the bpm by several percent

                      Re: Guitar Hero World Tour

Why on earth would they even institute such a limitation?

"no, your file for a song can only take up x amount on your harddrive"

It's not like it's an abstract **** like "slots" on a Playstation memory card. And it's not like the song's length would ever do serious damage to a ****ING HARDDRIVE, but even if it did, it's our own harddrive, why aren't we allowed to rape it? Furthermore, I imagine the system is midi-like, in that the data is in the form of INSTRUCTIONS to create music, not music itself, and therefore, file size should be incredibly small, particularly compared to DLC tracks.

Seriously. This feature was the ONE thing it had that was cool and unique. I was planning on buying this game basically entirely because it has this feature (basically all my favorite music in this game appears in RB or RB DLC). Major ****ing blow. Wow.

Oh well, at least I can have confidence that when Rock Band '09 comes out, it'll have a similar feature adapted in a more effective manner. Maybe even compatibility with tracks made for Guitar Hero (lol). Hopefully global midi support across all platforms too...

The characters have already been fixed. Longjaw doesn't exist anymore. In fact, they have at least half a dozen real people as characters and they look great. And of course it has the custom creator too.

I can't see the rectangle notes. They're too small. I can see the circles just fine.

RB1 and RB2's soundtrack in a nutshell: 20 songs you love, 70 songs you've never heard of.

Sorry, anecdotal evidence isn't evidence. You're the exception, not the rule.

The other differences between the guitars:

Real buttons (don't like the in-laid buttons)
                        Longer strum bar.
Wide Star Power button (as opposed to apparently NO star power button within reach in RB)
                        Longer guitar.
                        1. See Shash post. Also, Backwards compatible download content. Also, The fact you upload songs from RB1. So that's the RB2 setlist plus 180 songs.

                        2. They've done exactly what rockband have done for character creation haven't they?

                        3. The biggest =/ face in the world seriously. You can see the notes. You're just looking for excuses. By all means if you prefer circles over rectangle, then cool. But SAY that. Rectangle notes are not a hindrance.

                        4. First off. See point 1. Secondly, add the fact that I play and enjoy about 150 of the songs I have now on RB1. Also, not hearing some of the songs is not a bad thing by a long shot. GH and RB have introduced me to bands. I would never listen to some of the bands I do now if it wasn't for RB or GH. I frequently listen to Freebird and Green Grass and Hide Tides now, I never even heard of those songs before GH or RB.

                        5. The RB guitar has "Real buttons".

Longer strum bar? So? What difference does that make. I've never once gone, "oh gee I wish the strum bar was longer". Maybe if I was an elephant. GG for looking out for the elephants GH.

No star power button within reach?

How small are your hands? First I think you may have elephant hands. Now you either have tiny hands or no fingers.

A longer guitar will make no difference. It's just another "getting used to this guitar" thing again.

Also, I much prefer buttons to a touch pad. Touch pads can get mucky and become unresponsive and temperamental. Also they can become easily damaged and are more expensive to make or replace.

                        In conclusion u r a gud troll

Oh no, I prefer one video game over another video game!

I'm still not buying either one until they drop in price to a reasonable amount. I can get Rock Band for $70 and it's still too expensive (to be fair it's the PS2 version).
