I just got photoshop recently so expect me around her more often : )
A much cooler and easier fire effect:

All I had to do for this was:
1. Black Background
2. fairly thick white line
3. smudged line
4. added orange color (ctrl u)
5. duplicated layer
6. changed the layer thing to like vivid or soft light or something
The stick figure took me a while to get a hang of, so you probably want to stick to just the fire for now.Comment

instead of pressing ctrl+u, try ctrl+b. set the shadows to a red that looks right for fire (i did +100, 0, -11), set the midtones to an orangey colour (i used +46, +25, -53) and set the highlights to more of a reddish orange (i used +65, -7, -45). keep preserve luminosity on.Originally posted by Lupin_the_3rdI just got photoshop recently so expect me around her more often : )
