This is pretty accurate. I used to hate it, but now, after giving it a bit of a chance, I watch it sometimes. It's pretty good.

Please tell me you are not overlooking the irony here. It's a show about an iconic metal band, living in a world where they are the BEST BAND EVER, and their music is actually rather terrible. The music is not supposed to be good music, not even by metal standards. It's supposed to be humorous, to make fun of the foibles of this sort of BRUTAL music. There are multiple allusions to this sort of thing, the band members admitting they don't know how to play music (they just play whatever), or the fact that no one can understand what the lyrics are and are easily interchanged on the fly.

Dethklok is (or was) at the top of the metal charts in the US, which says something about them. It is a gimmick band, but there music is still deeply brutal, headbangingly good, and funny.

Regardless, Metalocalypse is a great show.

Popularity has nothing to do with talent. Their music is awful, unsinspired and plain bad. It's the same thing over and over again and they aren't even remotely funny.

Ive seen every epsiode too many times, enough to remeber every quote :P

I never said it did. All it's popularity is fan based, but obviously people enjoy listening to the music. The lyrics aren't funny, the music isn't funny, but the concept is. It's a parody of metal bands, in a subtle way, and that's what makes it good. It has nothing to do with how good a -fake- band is. Go hate an actual band :P

They could of kept the idea in the cartoon and it would have been funny, though. IMO they kind of ruined it by bringing it "to life"
