it shouldnt be illegal if they're both underage, but the problem with that is that girls mature faster and are able to get pregnant at like 11 or 12. thats obviously far too early to have a baby. it shouldnt be illegal, but the gov't should make sure minors know the consequences..

It's illegal because the majority of teenagers that DO have sex are extremely immature and naive. It would be like a widespread epidemic of STDs and tons of unwanted babies and abortions. No matter how much you want to believe it, the number of immature teenagers will always outnumber the number of mature teenagers who know what they're doing or have asked for guidance on how to maintain a healthy, sexual relationship.

And just looking at the teenage population now, I'm pretty sure it will never get better, at least not any time soon. It is stupid that the mature groups of teenagers get in trouble because of the law, it's a shame, but it's also their fault because they should have been more secretive about it. I just don't believe the law should change because of these few people though. That would be stupid, but lessening the charges would be fine if they had friends or family members to back them up.

However, any kid who goes against his or her parents' rules on sex should deserve the full punishment, especially if they are living under their roof. It's as if people don't have respect for their parents these days anymore, so why the hell not?

So in all seriousness now... I really think abstinence is the best thing in this situation. Teenagers have hormones, I know, but when they fall victim to their sexual instincts without waiting, then that shows how weak they are. It CAN be controlled and they CAN wait until it's legal for them to actually have sex with their intimate partner. It isn't hard if they both support each other.

Maybe you should read the OP again. We're talking about underaged sex. I seriously doubt that a good majority sexually active teenagers say "Let's have sex! I want to have a child when I'm nowhere near mentally ready to be a mother!" So, in this case, sex is not human survival, and I have no idea where you got that impression.

Anyway, I basically agree that outlawing underage sex is somewhat ridiculous. However, a good portion of teenagers either don't realize the consequences of unsafe sex or just blatantly ignore them entirely. Until a general majority of teens prove themselves worthy, the gentlemen and ladies at Capitol Hill will probably keep teenage sex illegal. Then again, with the laws in place, the anticipation for the legal age is quite fun if you ask me.

Also, I still think that schools should go more in-depth about money shots to see if it'll help prevent pregnancies.

In England, you must only be 16 to have sex.
To be honest, I can now understand why we have so many problems with teenage pregnancies.
I honestly do not see anything wrong with underage sex, as long as both are underage.
But, I believe morals should certainly be taken into account.
Neither me, or many people I know can honestly say we have not broken the sex law. Because, fact is, we have.
Having a law on sex makes people even more intent to break it.
To feel 'naughty'
I think teaching people more about Chastity and stuff will help alot.
People need more self confidence and respect for their own bodies. People need to be taught that they are beautiful how they are and how they can stand up and not be taken advantage of, as many teenagers with low self confidence issues are by MEN. =O

I think what matters more than anything is physical development, which is not as strongly tied to our traditional conventions of chronological age as we'd like to think. At age 18 or 21, arbitrary ages, we don't suddenly change from when we were 17 and 364 days or 20 and 364 days old. But that's a whole new issue.

I think it's ridiculous to punish to people who consent to such an act, and have the full ability to consent to such an act. Great, two 14 year olds had sex. Wear a condom kids, or you might end up with children almost as bad as you. Better a mocha stain on the bedsheets than another laughable excuse for a human being taking up valuable oxygen.

I think the government takes it way too far. My girlfriend turns 18 in 2 months and i've been 18 for a month. Yet if we did it and were caught that'd be a felony? That's completely rediculous.

People seem to be really confused on this matter.
It is NOT a felony to have sex with someone under 18 as long as they have reached the age of consent.

In some states, the laws vary; but the age of consent here and a lot of places are 16 and 17.. Even if you dont have the parents permission and you are having sex and get busted, you would only go to jail if the parents wanted to have you charged with statuatory rape and even then you would probably be let off with a warning.

Some states have stipulations though... If you are more than 3 or 4 years older than someone and she is underage than you then it was a higher class crime compared to a misdeamenor (Thats what its taken as anyway..).

So yeah; you are fine with that unless your state says the age of consent is over 17...

I was in this kinda situation. I was 18 and she was well 15 going on 16. The day I turned 18 I didn't feel much different until we were out late one night and a cop saw us walking together. When he asked for I.D.'s we gave him ares. He saw mine and flipped the hell out. He called her parents and everything. It was two days after my birthday.

Okay so, by "whip it out" do you mean use the "pull-out" method? Because that is NOT terribly effective at preventing pregnancy, and provides no protection against STIs.

Just sayin. I don't reccomend to ANYONE that they use the "pull-out" method of birth control, unless they want to get pregnant, in which case.. you wouldn't pull out.

What is a "mocha" stain? A brown stain like the colour of mocha? So why would you have a mocha stain? Better yet, why do you get a mocha stain from using a condom?
