DragonForce is the only metal I listen to, so I guess it is Power Metal.

DragonForce isn't metal. They're crap. They can't even play their own songs live. Maybe if they'd stop drinking, they'd do a little better

For power metal, it sure lacks power. I never considered them much of a power metal band, but if you want to go by the literal genre, then I guess that is what they are classified as. If you want some real power metal, go listen to Iced Earth.

They are power metal, just really, really bad power metal.

Hey Verruckter judging by your tastes you might like In Mourning. They're heavily influenced by Opeth and it shows, give them a listen if you haven't.

I'm heavily addicted to Tyr right now, so I'll pass for the moment but remind me in a few months :P

Yeah, I just listened to them again, and they are power metal. Somehow I didn't quite remember them like that in my head at all; I remembered them being a lot more progressive. Excuse my mistake. I'll agree that they're not very good.

I would have preferred a poll where you can have multiple choices, not just one. I mean I listen to most metal, let's see from your list:

Black Metal - Yes, lots of bands.
Death Metal - Yes, lots of bands.
Thrash Metal - Yes, some bands.
Speed Metal - Ya probably lots of bands.
Heavy Metal - Ya, tons of bands.
Power Metal - Ya, lots of bands.
Stoner Metal - Uh, what? This isn't really a genre. The closest I can think would be "Sludge Metal" which includes bands like Isis or Deterior.
Nu Metal - This genre is bad, if I like any bands in this genre then it's very little.
Metalcore - Maybe some. Again, probably not much.
Avant-Garde Metal - Again, tons.

Also, Prog-Metal is a huge genre that isn't included in your list (Dream Theater / Symphony X, etc). Also Tech-Metal (Meshuggah / Spiral Architect, etc).

I'd say tech metal is more of a... specification. It can be tech death, tech power, tech prog, etc.

I really only mentioned Tech-Metal as a genre because of Spiral Architect. In all honesty they are just Tech-Metal, not anything else. Meshuggah could be Tech-Extreme or Tech-Death metal but I guess I'd still have it as a genre.

I mean tech-power doesn't really exist does it? What power metal bands have you listened to that are pure technical based? Same with most other genres who have distinctive sounds, the technical aspect seems to be unique.

I don't even know what half the metal bands I like fall under. I just like metal in general for the most part.
