If any gay person EVER tries to tell you that it's an insult to them when you say "that's gay", tell them to shut their prissy little asses up, because by that logic, they're offending hookers and concubines of all sorts all across the globe when they say "that sucks".

hookers and prostitutes etc. are doing something that most people consider morally wrong. being gay is something that people can't help-- people are born gay... they don't chose to be gay (who would?). pretty much you are offending gay people by using that word as an insult or derogatory adjective because they can't help being that way... it's who they are. whereas hookers typically have a choice. and it's not as if they're forced to be hookers. plenty of poor people manage to get to college and get themselves off the streets.

then again if you hate gay people and want to purposefully hurt them then using that word in such ways makes perfect sense

Nobody thought that about the concubines of historic Chinese days. In fact, concubines were treated with the same respect that the emperor was given. Also for today, what is "morally wrong" is an individual thing, not a common belief of what is right and what is wrong. I think it's wrong to lie. I never lie. Some people make a profession of it.

What I hate is gay people who take offense to slang dealing with their sexual preference. People need to accept that slang is slang. I know gay people who say "that's gay" and plenty other things like that.

Besides, it doesn't matter if you actually had a choice to be a certain way or not; the point is you are that way and that's that.

Now this is interesting because you DID mean it.
Perhaps you're not quite sure what you meant exactly.
Let me enlighten you and everyone else who uses the word "gay" or "fag" in this sense.
In the context, the term "gay" is not used as a description of sexual inclination; rather, it is used as an adjective with a negative attribute(such as "suck" in "that sucks").
Therefore, the deeper meaning of saying "that's gay" pertaining to the term "gay" itself is to say that being gay is not a positive attribute for a person to have.
Think about how this applies to insults such as "you fag"(in the context of someone not being homosexual yet you'd call them such anyway), and think about how that mentally/emotionally affects homosexual people.

Myself, I really don't care if faggots get pissed when I say "that's gay". They're just being overly pissy about the fact that they're the minority and they feel a need to take advantage in a way that demonstrates themselves as the more pure side of the issue. But as for the word ******, it shows how completely ignorant and uneducated you are. The word ****** in a dictionary means a bundle of sticks. The reason it became associated with homosexuals is because in the days of the inquisition in europe they would gather ******s (the actual bundles of sticks) to burn the witches with. When they ran out of sticks they would then throw homosexuals onto the fire to keep it going. It was a term used to keep homosexuals in the closet for fear for their lives. You think thats a term to be used lightly? Put yourself in their shoes for a second and consider how you would feel if someone referred to you in a term designed to promote fear and insecurity? Or are you so short sighted you can't even consider that. Prissy?
