The problem is that people treat threads like these as spam threads when they could really be so much more. This could be a huge thread to come to for musical discussion, to see what others are listening to, get recommendations, all that sort of stuff.

Instead people continually post one-liners and expect you to care.

I think that it was intended as a spam thread in the first place, so I don't further try to get this thread anywhere(and my musical knowledge is VERY limited, either way)
But that is true indeed. Although it would get messy after a while, I think, but it's true.

The only real issue i see with it is that if people were to start a musical discussion here, it has the possibility of turning into a massive flame war.

Musical discussion does not have to equal "my band is better".

I'm talking along the lines of "Oh, I see you're listening to (band), I recommend (band2) as they are along those lines and I think you'd enjoy them".

I guess that's true. It's in Chit Chat for a reason. But obviously everyone else missed it ;p right now, it belongs more to the Games forum than to Chit Chat.
