Morale of the story is: Expect competitive play in a competitive environment, and don't moan about it, your opponents aren't trying to personally ruin your fun, they are just being competitive.
But.
Was it a game for fun, or was it ACTUALLY competitive? For example, I play many people in the ladder, but it is never COMPETITIVE because the matches' outcomes are meaningless. It's always for fun with me. And I know if someone tried something as broken as an infinite chain grab, I'd be ****ing pissed. If I was playing in a tournament, or even a ladder match, I'd be mad, but I'd deal with it since competitive matches should be all-out. But if they do that **** during a for-fun game, that's just ****ty. Sorry, I don't know about you, but I don't have fun getting ragdolled around by a combo chain which is unbeatable once it's started.

Actually, I believe I heard somewhere that Ness and Lucas are relatively easy to have chain grabs on that are impossible to escape. As long as the grabber does things right, the Earthbound kids can't get away.
Official tournament usually back up problems like these with a limit to how many chain grabs you may do, such as the limiter they put on Fox's infinite waveshine in Melee. If you knew how to do it properly, then you could pin someone to a wall and keep them there until they have a high enough precentage to finish them off with an up-smash or some other strong attack. Or you could even drill shine them infinitely left and right all across the stage.
Thereforth, MLG(Major League Gaming) put a 7 shine limit or so (I forget how many times) that you may do on your opponent. If caught doing more than the limit, possible disqualification may occur on the spot.
We could possibly set up rules like that for infinite chain grabs or infinite combos if Dogdude would like to. ^^b

Reason: BECAUSE I CAN! ^^b
Sorry guys. I quit Brawl again ^^
Anyways, I play Megaman Starforce 2 all the time now. So if you happen to face me one day with an actual legit folder without having to revert to using WCC's then you'll be raped. If you use WCC's anyways then you will still be bent over.
I don't think it's an issue for many combos, since most have a way for the person to get out of it. It's just that I do believe I heard that Ness and Lucas are completely unable to get out of it if it's done correctly.
Then we could just ask dogdude to add those rules to the section where he mentions "NO GOONING" just to be fair in case stuff like that ever happens. xD
