Re: Common Music-creating Software (read if interested)
FL isn't really THAT complicated i like ableton myself for a DAW but that one IS complicatedI was afraid of that
I found someone willing to teach me the features in FL Studio, thankfully. I generally don't have trouble learning the features of programs.. I was able to figure out Macromedia Flash and animate with that quite easily, same with Adobe Photoshop, but FL Studio is just way too complex, and in a field I don't fully understand yet.Comment

Doesn't Venetian Snares use Renoise? It's too complicated for me. I'd need a manual for it, but it seems pretty powerful if what you can do on that creates crazy songs like Frictional Nevada... if indeed that is what you call a song
I've only gotten used to FL. Automation could be no simpler IMO.Comment

Orion Platinum $199
Welcome to Synapse Audio Software, we made the best VST Synthesizers: DUNE 3, The Legend, Obsession and Rack Extensions: Antidote, GQ-7 and more
This is the one I use.
A demo is available, its limitations are no saving files and also smaller preset banks on synthesizers.
I definitely suggest this one if you are looking for easy interface.

Um, ok. May I help you?
Yes, I am going to need some more information. What is your social security, work hours, sperm count, sexual orientation, and hours of absence from your home?

LOL I'm using that to make a hardcore version of "Mary Had A Little Lamb".
Also, if the list will ever get updated, Psycle is a good program to use for composing mainly dance/techno esque music. It can be used for simple Rock or Classical, too. Plus it's free.Comment

You have a long way to go if you can't figure out how to make a full length song with Fruity Loops. Even if you just use one pattern you can technically achieve this. I suggest taking a look at the help file that comes bundled with it, it should show you the basics.
EDIT: I just noticed that Audacity isn't listed. Seriously, what the ****? One of the best free audio editing programs on the Internet.Doesn't vsnares use renoise? Also Audacity is my favorite freelance audio editor.Renoise is probably one of the best trackersComment

There's a fine line between a digital audio editor (Audacity) and a digital audio workstation (what this thread is about).
Anyway, Wavosaur has Audacity beat as an audio editor.Comment
