Messed around with the arrows on the avatar a bit more, blended better, I hope...

The problem with that is that FFR converts the avatars into gif images, and gif images doesn't support partial transparency. It's either completely transparent or completely opaque. I saved that image as a gif just so you can preview what it will look like.


edit: another thing I'd like to point out is that FFR profiles only show banners 958px wide, so there's some excess picture not visible at the right side of the image if the image is 960px wide. I'm not 100% positive yet whether FFR shows the background 959px wide, but I'm pretty sure it's 959px wide. Not sure if this was discovered already, but I'd thought it would help telling you guys so it might make it easier to design.

Banners in FFR will also be offset 1px to the right of the background, so if you do design for a 958px wide banner and 959px wide background that is suppose to align perfectly, then you need to design the banner with 959px, then cut out the first 1px column at the left side of the image.

I'm not trying to say any of the other ways to make the banner and background is wrong. I'm just trying to give info that you might not know about and might find useful.

Hot graphics going on in this thread. I just wanted to address dean's post.

You'll notice, dean, that FFR actually doesn't convert every avatar to a gif file. It says .gif at the end of the file name, but it saves it as the file type the avatar was uploaded as. You can try saving my avatar or Silvuh's avatar up there, and you'll notice mine is a .jpeg file and Silvuh's is a .png file. The avatar Silvuh made will be as it looks in this thread when it's uploaded.

And, Dean...
Do you use IE or something? Because in Firefox, banners are 960 pixels long and backgrounds are 962 pixels long. There's an extra pixel on both sides on the background.

I'm sorry, I'm afraid I have to eat crow. You can ignore everthing I said in my last post. I just tested the Dimensions, and it is 960 for the banner and 962 for the background. FFR does though shrink somehow to 959px for the banner and 961 for the background if the banner is 959px wide or less wide. And I realize now that the avatars are actually still in their original format. I feel stupid now.

Silvuh, that background is amazing. The font looks really out of place though. It might be the colour, or the bevel, but something is wrong with it.

The font looks really out of place though. It might be the colour, or the bevel, but something is wrong with it.

Yeah, I actually don't like the bevel, but I left it there, 'cause Xception never said if he liked it or not. Layer styles tend to mess with grunge fonts, because it effects the little dots and stuff as much as it does the actual text part... So, like, strokes and stuff look horrible. And bevels look weird...

Ps: did you make that bg from scratch?

The first version was from scratch, but I used an image I found on the internet (after a bit of editing) for the side of the most recent version.

Well, I, uh, blackified these graphics, and I changed the font and added a tiny bit more to the banner... Do want me to get rid of the borders?
