Special moves like that are not pre-determined. The amount, the speed, and the place of each impact is determined by the person who activated the move. In other words, you can't just press "back back b!" and have a cool move bust out. I'd say 3x sudden shuffle is a good analogy.

5x is such an overstatement that you would not even believe. It's very hard to read anything well on 5x shuffle, unless the song is like <130 bpm, not even MENTIONING 5x shuffle sudden. This coming from someone who actually PLAYS songs on sudden shuffle =\
Thats why it is so freaking amazing. Watch the video again and see how long he has to react to each hit.
oops ment sudden >_<Originally posted by Arch0wlI'm just going to assume you meant sudden and not hidden because on fast speeds hidden makes no difference.

It's irrelevant what analogy you use to compare it to stepmania. You could say C12,000 STEALTH and it still would be too low to match this. This is a total of 16 parries of differing heights during a super combo with 1% life remaining. First of all, a parry isn't as easy as hitting a button. It's a direction and two buttons that change for wherever the hit is occuring. Stepmania is one button per arrow and you get a long time to see the arrow before it gets to the top.
PUT IT THIS WAY. If you can even pull off a single REGULAR parry in street fighter, you're almost godlike. Nobody ever even tries because if your timing is off by that tiny fraction of a second, you're vulnerable for the rest of the combo. The analogy for this in SM is if any of your arrows are a Perfect and not Marvelous, you get an E.

Parry's aren't easy, but I wouldn't say that by being able to do them regularly, you're god like. I mean, yeah, the moves are pretty quick when you use light and medium attacks, but if you play enough street fighter, you just get an idea of what attacks are going to be used after watching your opponent enough, and you know where they will land. The parry in that video is just ridiculous, but parrying here and there, maybe 5 times each round isn't too hard. If you play Street Fighter 3's 1p mode a lot, you'll have parrying down due to the mini game with the kid that throws the basketball. I forget his name, unfortunately.Comment

And yeah, the move is definitly not preplanned, because the Chun-Li guy was still hitting buttons during the super combo in an attempt to hit the guy somehow. So I've gone completely slack-ass and haven't done any work on creating games. =(
In less-depressing news, I got a job for an online business (which sells non-electronic games, of all things!) which has taught me a lot about marketing online and all that jazz.
So now I'm on Twitter @NoahWright.
And I write the blog for their website.
Plus I do cool programming in-house that you'll never see. =OComment

I still think the most extremely awesome Street Fighter action was in the movie City Hunter (the live-action one starring Jackie Chan). Holy goddamn, that was sweet.

Yea, I play Snk vs. Capcom: Millenium edition... and on that game you can pick which groove you want to use... Grooves are the different types of fighting methods in each of the different Snk or Capcom games.. I have used that groove before, the one from the video you saw, and have done a total of 2 or 3 parries my entire life.. It's safe to say I have played that game well over 300 times(mind you not all those times playing with that groove).. This video totally whoops ass.. It whooped ass the first time I saw it, and even though the link is down, I can visualize in my head what is going on, and it whoops even more ass right now, just because everyone else can see the pwnage..
EDIT
Nima you can get the video from here..
EDIT
Just to edit again, Im totally on the side of the people who say this is like 3x sudden.. But to be fare about it, and to back arch up, there is no randomness to what chun-li did... That whole kicking combination isn't a custom combo (something the guy made up), it is a preset combo that can be learned to counter... It's a certain amount of mid kicks followed by a certain amount of high kicks follwed by another high kick(the last high kick was a custom move, because it's not part of chun-li's combo move).. he didn't jump for no reason on that last kick, it was so that he could parry it, then be set up to start his combo that the other guy wouldn't be able to block.. To ensure himself the win.. Now none the less the parries are EXTREMELY hard to time correctly, and just because he knew what kicks where comming before hand doesn't take away from the sweetness of this video..
