Here's the site where I found quite a bit of info about the game. It won't answer all your questions, but it does a better job of answering them than the main site does.

I'm sure it'd be a ton easier to understand the game when we start playing it.

I saw this game a while back, but when you went to the site it was just a screen that said come back in 08. Signing up now though, looks pretty cool.

Re: Cabal (not the old arcade game)

As long as my net holds up, I'm going to do a piece for this on Rithum. I have vids and pics and all of the public-knowledge info to post. I'll edit this post once I am able to upload everything. Pretty much the best thing about the game, was it wasn't tedious at all during my time playing it. You get EXP per hit to make leveling seem a lot smoother and the quests haven't been annoying at all through playing up to level 21.

The combo activation is the main hook in the game, allowing you to string special attacks continously at a faster pace, making the game a lot more appealing in a real-time fashion. If you can time the meter well enough and take advantage of the small breaks, you can target new enemies in the middle of a combo and take out multiple enemies at once. Since the game automatically uses MP potions when you run out of MP, potentially, if there are enough enemies around, you can attack infinitely. The combo system also gives you a bit of chance facing off against enemies a bit stronger than you (no XP loss on death either; Cabal uses a death penalty system after level 10 that slightly reduces your max HP/MP by a couple of points until you gain a certain amount of XP - at level 20, I was only getting -2HP/-6MP penalties, so no big deal).

I'll save the rest for the piece. lol I'm open to any questions about the game though. I was hoping OGPlanet would list a specific time of when the beta starts, but I'll probably get a start sometime tomorrow afternoon.

Edit: Oh, in case people are wondering, I'll be in the game as nestlekwik and I'll be a warrior since that's what I used in the beta - strong and excels with sword skills.

Re: Cabal (not the old arcade game)

            From the site:
Here is the notice that everyone has been waiting for. The open beta of Cabal Online is now here for all to join. Tomorrow February 1st at 1400 OGP time we will be opening up the beta build of Cabal to everyone. Just go to the website and download the US client and start playing.

Along with the start of the Open beta we have a few events that we are going to be doing also. One event is that for the players that reach LV50 or Higher after the 2nd of February. We will give all those users and item. That item will be the Odd circule. We will also be picking 10 users at random the x-1 green board to help you move around some of the maps better.

If you are one of the lucky users to get to the Instant dungeon and clear it. You will have the chance to be chosen to receive “Old Bike. Now you can ride around in style while you defeat the hordes.

Last but not least we are on the look out for those guilds out there. We are looking for the top 3 guilds to spotlight and show the other guilds how it’s done. That’s all the news for now be on the look out for more news and events we will be planning.
Granted, it doesn't seem to say which time zone it's in. This looks great. I think I'll go ahead and try out the force archer when it starts. But, 50 levels in one day? Seems a bit much for me. I'll probably use the ign "Sumote".

EDIT: Went back and checked the site and they switched the time from "2 o'clock" to "1400". Won't be starting until 4 in the afternoon here (while I'm at work).

Re: Cabal (not the old arcade game)

OG Time is basically PST (Pacific Standard Time). I live in eastern U.S., which is EST, and that means the game will be playable starting 5 a.m. Ugh.

Here is that game preview by the way: http://www.rithum.com/?p=1660

And if you played the game from minute one, reaching level 50 by the end of Feb. 2, wouldn't be too hard. With roughly 10 hours of play I was at level 21. The EXP curve must get pretty steep once you get around level 50.

Re: Cabal (not the old arcade game)

I dunno if I'll get to playing this or when I'll get around to it, but I'd be archer all the way.
So I've gone completely slack-ass and haven't done any work on creating games. =(

In less-depressing news, I got a job for an online business (which sells non-electronic games, of all things!) which has taught me a lot about marketing online and all that jazz.

So now I'm on Twitter @NoahWright.
And I write the blog for their website.

Plus I do cool programming in-house that you'll never see. =O

Fkin Cabal. After this game came out, I lost half of my SRO guild to it

                  Damnit!

Because of nestle, I joined and downloaded the game.

                    EDIT: Username: irishpaladin

Is it normal for downloads to take over 30 minutes just for 1GB?

Maybe I'm just not used to downloading stuff.

Eh, I was dumb last night. The beta starts for me at 5 P.M., not a.m. My net was messed up all day yesterday, give me a break. But, good - that gives me a nice six hours to roll out any work I need to do so I can start playing.

For the people signing up and playing later today, in the beta, they had the Mercury server, channel 2 set for beginners. Unless that channel is just absolutely jam-packed with people, I'll be playing there.

I want to play this it looks really good but due to my pos computer I probably can't. I tried downloading and playing RRO and gunz but they wouldn't work so this probably won't either, which really sucks.

According to OGPlanet, the game is designed for a wide range of specs and will work on a good number of computers.

Minimum Configuration: Windows 95/98/2000/XP OS, Pentium 3 800MHz; 256 MB RAM, 2GB+ Hard Disk Space, Any DirectX 9.0c compatible sound card, 3D graphics accelerator, 4x CD-ROM drive, A 56k or better Internet connection.

I would like to think you have at least that. It's always worth a shot. The worst that could happen is it won't work.

I signed up at the OGplanet website or whatever, I'm assuming that's what I'm going to log in with, since I didn't see a "Register" button in the client.

And since "Relambrien" is filtered for some reason (anyone know why?), my IGN is going to be "Relambr1en." I don't like using numbers, but meh.
