I couldnt imagine playing on a hard pad without shoes. First off, most arcades I've been to wont let you play barefoot on there equiptment just because its kinda... well... gross. I mean, if everyone did that youd have all this sweaty foot gunk on it. eweys. Plus, you dont know who has what on the bottom of there shoes when they play. Ive played with flip flops on just because I wouldnt want to play barefoot on a public metal pad. At home, maybe a different story. I have insanely small feet though, so the shoes give me the added leverage to hit the arrows. It also makes it easier to put more pressure on the arrows, because im also insanely short and just barely catch the arrows as it is.

Playing with shoes doesn't 'slow you down' at all. You might think that it's extra weight on your feet but it's really not. Shoes stop you from slipping so you don't have to be as careful with your steps, you can move MUCH faster thatt way. Shoes also means you don't have to move your feet as much, why? because if you play barefoot, you have to watch out for the screws (otherwise it hurts) but if you've got em on, you can just hit the side of the arrow, and you're still good

On a soft pad I bet barefoot > shoes... I have no experience though so I might be wrong. No idea. But I know that on just about any surface, my bare feet slip much less than any shoes.

i used to play in socks, i don't think it's that big a deal, and in responce to healingvison, certain shoes DO slow you down, heh. (i.e. my shoes, vans, size 13). I can play 50% better without shoes, so i purposely play with them on to get faster. It's good practice.

You can always go home and wash your feet, too... they clean a lot easier than socks No bleach required either.

Same as staroceanfreakx. Socks at home and shoes when I actually bother to go to the arcade.

socks at home and occasionally boots at the arcade but usually just regular shoes. i have trouble with freeze arrows too. one thing u can do is hit the freeze arrows over and over as if they were 1/32 notes. it works

haha oh man, Karen....if you've ever tried playing with my space shoes on, you would change your oppinion about shoes not slowing anyone down.... it's like trying to play with ankle weights (and we all know what happened to andrew when he did that lol)...have you even seen those shoes!? its heavy just carrying them...they are like 50% metal!

I play with 5 lb. weights on each foot because I need to speed up. (At home, though.)

If Vans slow you down, that is a very bad sign. I wear 11 1/2 Vans, and I'm quicker than pretty much everybody else that I play against. I seriously cannot think of any good reasons to play barefoot on an arcade pad. Plus, a lot of arcades wont let you do it because of insurance purposes.

                                I told myself screw shoes.

Now I can do any metal pad without bitchin' about the metal hitting my foot.
