Brawl is not that good. I played it at E-For-All. The game is slow, the stages are too small or they change around too much. The best character in the Brawl demo was Metaknight.

It won't be better than Melee.

Well, then that's at least one pro who disliked the game, and at least one (Gimpyfish) who loved it.

I know Gimpyfish personally. I play Smash with him all the time. I was there with him, it was pretty fun until I played Melee a week later and forgot all about Brawl; because Brawl wasn't up to my expectations, so I just simply forgot about it.

I will play Brawl competitively as I did with Melee. I only played the demo, but hopefully when the full game comes out it'll be much better than the demo; most likely it will.

There are people who insist that counter-strike is the greatest multiplayer FPS in existence without even trying to switch to something new because their mindset is unfaltering.

Basically, you're looking for flaws because you want to stick with what you have. Relax. It's human nature. Everybody does it.

You know, that oddly makes no sense on why someone would release the fact about a character in the game and not be able to unlock it when they place it, in the site, right under "PLAYERS" where some are new and some aren't. Not only that, but they also give you a list of what they can do...

What exactly do you call that?

I'm sorry if this isn't what you mean by it, but I don't know what else to think.

It's a subconscious human reaction. You can't control it. Humans just don't like the concept of change.

What the hell does that have to do with anything?

The list of character is a list of characters. RPGs have lists of characters before the game comes out. Does that mean you'll start with all 8 characters? No. You pick them up along the way.

I expect Sakurai is keeping one or two characters a secret, but nothing more than that. You can't expect the roster to be much bigger than the previous game. After all, he wants to remove the clones. That knocks out a handful of characters right there.

I understand; my post was merely an observation, nothing more. I did not imply anything beyond precisely what I stated.

                  @Squeek

I disagree that humans dislike the concept of change. I, for one, love change, but only change for the better. It would be more accurate to say that humans fear negative change than to say humans dislike change altogether, since we welcome wholeheartedly those changes which we view as positive. Not that this is particularly relevant, just something that bugged me.

If you see melee as a perfect game, and you play it enough to be considered a pro, any change to that is going to be bad on a first reaction basis.

I've tried to play Smash competitively but there's no tournaments around here. None that I can find at least, and you'd think there would be since I live about 2 hours from Chicago. I think I would definitely have a chance, too, after seeing some of those videos of Ken on Youtube. His matches against other opponents don't look much more different than matches I have with one of my friends who's about my skill level.

I'm trying to get competitive in Smash, but living in Delaware and being 16, there aren't many tournaments nearby. I'm gonna try and go to Philly's Smashpocalypse on the 12th though.

LOL wow are you serious? Here's how it is in competitive smash. If your friend(s) haven't been to any tournaments you can't expect your friend(s) to be as good as top professionals.

Why does everyone think that..? I don't consider myself pro, but I play with pros like Mango, Lucky, DEHF, etc so I'm most likely better your friend(s) and I'm no where near Ken's level.. in my opinion.

Regardless of tech skill, which even with just practice against friends you could eventually perfect to the level of top pros, mindgames are the bigger problem. Even if your tech skill is as good as Ken's, other pros' mindgames would probably cause you to lose. It's just difficult to see mindgames from YouTube videos, with the exception of edgeguarding (for instance, is that Fox going to Illusion, Fire Fox to the ledge, or Fire Fox above to a platform, and how will the Marth respond?). And even then, that may or may not be considered a mindgame.

For the one millionth time, this thread is about Brawl. Not Melee.

Furthermore, as most of you appear to be members of smashboards, why not just post there? You all know what discussion of tournaments and such does to people like me.

He's not even top-pro but he can do nearly every known movement in the game.
