Yeah, we all kill animals for food, but I am pretty sure that we don't strangle them, drown them, or hang them, then bury them in the backyard...just because they couldn't cut it in the ring...

You can't compare the repeated torture of an animal to people eating meat to survive. The meat market isn't perfect and I'm not going to defend it, but it serves a greater purpose. Eating a hamburger is a socially accepted practice that we are taught from birth. Watching animals suffer is not acceptable and is therefore a crime.

Yeah, because there's nothing at all problematic with holding every animal's life to be the exact moral equal of a human's life...

I'm aware of this, but I still don't think all these taken lives should only result in 23 months. I'm not saying taking a shrimp and cooking it could mean you should be convicted of murder, but my main focus is that dogfighting is really unnecessary, and whatever number of lives he took should amount to more than 23.

Also, it's stupid how property is valued more than a human life.
