As for why we build castles in the sky- we enjoy flaunting our 'superiority'. Man thinks that just because he can stick some rocks and mud together he is god. It happened thousands of years ago and we've continued to show off ever since but at least we weren't constantly destroying the earth and all who dwell on it while showing off. Now it's so bad we are hurting ourselves.

There's a good saying that puts us back in our place- Man, for all his wisdom and achievments, is the only animal that will fight with another of his kind for not love, not land, but over such trivial matters as the color of one's skin or what another man said. We're one f-ed up species when u think about it.
